To use the OMS VR app on a standalone (wireless) Meta Quest 2 headset you will need to install the VR app on your device.
Follow the guidance in this resource to guide you through the process:
Step One: Setting up your Meta Account
In order to use the Meta Quest 2 you will need a Meta Account. Meta requires that you have a separate Meta Account for each headset you are using. If you have three Quest 3 headsets, you will need three Meta Accounts, each associated with a unique email address. See our guide for creating Meta Accounts here:
Step Two: Pair your Meta Quest 2 with the Meta Quest app
In order to use your Meta Quest 2 you'll need to pair it with the Meta Quest smartphone app. If you are setting up multiple headsets, you can log into your separate Meta Accounts on the Meta Quest app on same smartphone.
You won't need to use the Meta Quest mobile app every time that you use your headset, but you will need it to complete the initial pairing and setup process.
To pair your headset to the Meta Quest mobile app and complete device setup:
Download the Meta Quest mobile app from either the Google Play or Apple App store.
Open the Meta Quest mobile app and log in or create a new Meta account.
You may be prompted to set up a Horizon Profile and / or Pin. Follow the instructions on the Meta Quest mobile app to do so.
Once you've logged in, tap Menu, then tap Devices.
The app should now automatically pair with your headset and controllers. If the app does not automatically pair:
Put on your headset and look for a 5-digit pairing code.
In the Meta Quest mobile app, enter the 5-digit code from your headset.
Once the code has been entered, your headset should start pairing with the app.
Follow the instructions in your headset / on the Meta Quest mobile app to connect your headset to WiFi (We recommend an open network without two step verification) and engage with the health and safety notifications.
Make sure that you've updated your Meta Quest mobile app to the latest version. If you're not seeing an option to add a Quest headset in your app, update and then fully close the Meta Quest app before reopening the app and trying again.
Please note that you need to have Bluetooth and sharing with nearby devices turned on in order to connect your phone with your headset.
Step Three: set up your Guardian
Guardian is a built-in safety feature that lets you set up boundaries in VR that appear when you get too close to the edge of your playing area. You can set up a Stationary (if seated or space limited) or Roomscale (larger available space) Boundary.
If you're setting up Guardian for the first time, follow the instructions that you see in your headset. You can also watch the video below for an overview of setting up a boundary.
Step Four: Install the OMS app onto your Quest 2 headset
In order to use OMS simulation scenarios on your Quest 2 you will need to install the OMS application onto the headset. The OMS application is listed on the Meta AppLab not the Meta Quest Store.
To get the OMS application from the App Lab follow the link below and log into the Meta Account for the headset you are setting up. If you are setting up multiple headsets you will need to repeat this process for each headset / Meta account combination.
Once you have accessed the OMS application from the AppLab for your Meta account you can install it onto the headset. To do this:
Put on your headset
Press the O button on your right hand controller
Navigate to App Library (the grid symbol on the far right of the menu that appears at the bottom of your screen)
Using the drop down menu in the top right of your App Library, navigate to Uninstalled Apps
Locate the Oxford Medical Simulation application and select Install
Step Five: log into the OMS application
Now that your headset is set up and you have installed the OMS application you can begin to use the OMS VR scenarios on your Meta Quest 2.
Put on your headset
Press the O button on your right hand controller
Navigate to App Library (the grid symbol on the far right of the menu that appears at the bottom of your screen)
Select the OMS application
Read through the Welcome Page and select "Agree and Continue" (move your VR cursor towards that button by moving your head)
Select your location from the drop down menu at the top of the OMS log in page
Enter your OMS email and password or the PIN generated from your OMS account
Select the scenario you would like to run - the scenarios page can be navigated by scrolling with the thumb stick on your Meta Quest 2 controller
You may be prompted to download the scenario before you launch it - complete this step
Launch your scenario and enjoy
If you see a notification that the scenario / application is not compatible with Quest 2, continue to the scenario anyway
