Switching Themes: What You Need to Redo

The App Embed and Custom Position blocks are saved per theme — here's what to check after switching or publishing a new theme.

Changing your Shopify theme? A couple of things don't carry over automatically.

1. Turn on the App Embed again

  • The App Embed toggle is saved per theme, not store-wide.

  • Switching to a new theme (or publishing a new one) means the embed starts Off by default on that theme, even if it was On for your old one.

  • Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize on your new live theme → App embeds → turn on Oxify Announcement Bar → Save.

Your Oxify dashboard only checks the app embed status on whichever theme is currently live. After publishing a new theme, always double-check the badge on your dashboard.

2. Re-add Custom Position blocks

  • If any announcement uses Custom position, the block (or code snippet) you added to your old theme's Header/Footer does not carry over to a new theme.

  • You'll need to re-add the "Oxify Announcement Bar" block (with the same Announcement ID) to the new theme.

What does carry over

  • All your announcements, their content, design, and settings — these live in the app, not the theme, so nothing is lost.

  • Your analytics history.
