Reader Login is a more sophisticated Security Rule, as it verifies the email address of the visitor (reader), ensuring it is genuine. It’s also possible to set which email addresses or email domains (e.g. @pagetiger.com) can or can't log in to view a document.
This Security Rule works by creating a ‘Reader’ account – it only takes a couple of minutes to register a new 'reader account' and requires the visitor to log in with their email address and password of their choice to view a Document.
💡 This type of rule is recommended if you wish to collate more accurate data about your readers, as the email address is verified so you know it's them!
How to create a 'Reader Login' Security Rule
Select ‘Documents’ from the main menu.
Select ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Security Rules’.
Select the ‘Add’ button.
Start by entering a name for the Security Rules in the 'Details'.
💡 Make sure the name is clear and recognisable so you know which Security Rule you're looking for when you wish to add it to a Document. For example - 'Reader Login (*citylifebank.com only)'
Select the 'Reader Login' tab.
Select the 'Reader Login Required' checkbox.
Restrict by email address
This feature is really powerful and can be used to grant access to your Document to a list of specific email addresses and/or domain names. To use, simply paste or type in the email address(es), and if you are entering an email domain ensure it is pre-fixed with an asterisk, for example *@citylifebank.com.
Deny by email address
Another powerful feature, this option can be used to deny access for your Document. As with the Restrict by email address option, paste or type in the email address(es), and if you are entering an email domain ensure it is pre-fixed with an asterisk, for example *@citylifebank.com.
💡 Display the cover of the Document and add add Help Text of your choice to the login screen to ensure the best experience for your visitors.
