How to create an interactive map with Airtable

How to create an interactive map with Airtable using PamPam. Doesn't require any code.

Creating a custom map app can be a valuable tool for a variety of purposes, such as creating an app, showing store locations, and creating business directories. With Airtable and PamPam, creating a custom map app is easy and you don’t need to write any code.

In this blog post, we will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create a custom map app using Airtable. Whether you are a business owner, developer, or simply someone who wants to create a personalized map app, this guide will provide everything you need to get started.

Follow the instructions below to get started on creating your own custom map app with Airtable and PamPam with no-code.


1. Create your map in PamPam

  1. Go to https://www.pampam.city/, sign in to create an account and make maps

  2. Click “Start from scratch” on the homepage, or “Make a map” from your profile

  3. Type CMD + K from anywhere in a map to bring up the actions

  4. Then select “Import from Airtable”

2. In Airtable, configure your scopes

  1. Set up your base with the right fields, see the possible & required fields here.

  2. In Airtable: Copy the URL of the view of the base you’d like to import (copy it from the browser)

  3. In Airtable: Create a new access token from here: https://airtable.com/create/tokens

  4. Add scopes:

    1. data.records:read

    2. schema.bases.read

  5. Add a base for access

    1. Give PamPam access to all your bases, or pick one base.

3. In PamPam, complete the import set up

  1. In PamPam: Paste the URL of the view

  2. In PamPam: Paste your access token

  3. Map the fields in PamPam to the columns in Airtable

  4. Click import

4. Update your map with changes

Every time you make an update to your base, just go back to “Import from Airtable” and click Import


Tips

  • If you have two places with the same name, only one will end up getting pulled in. In that case, try appending a number to the places to create unique place names.

  • Add custom fields to your map in PamPam, by entering CMD + K and then selecting “Edit spot panel”, there you can add your custom fields

  • Apply consistent stickers to places in each section by clicking on a sticker, then CMD + K and selecting “Apply sticker to section”
