There are a few reasons why a pick in your contest may be cancelled. The most common are:
The athlete in your entry did not play (DNP) due to injury or other reasons.
The athlete was traded and no longer played for the team at the time of the contest.
The offer or pick was not available in the market at the time it was submitted.
The athlete ties their projected point/stat value
How Cancellations Work
If an athlete in your entry is marked as DNP, their pick is voided and removed.
The contest is then settled based on the remaining valid picks.
If fewer than two valid picks remain, or if your entry no longer includes at least one player from two different teams, the entire entry is cancelled and refunded.
For Combo Picks, all players must be active. If any player in the combo is DNP, the entire combo pick is voided and removed, and the contest is settled based on the remaining picks.
DNP Criteria by Sport
Sport | DNP Criteria |
Football | An athlete is considered inactive if he or she plays zero snaps** in the game (whether full or half). Kickers and punters that are designated as active will be considered active even if they don't attempt a kick or punt.
|
Basketball | An athlete is considered inactive if he or she plays zero seconds in the game (whether full or half). |
Hockey | An athlete is considered inactive if he or she records zero time on the ice (whether full or half). |
Golf | The athlete is inactive if he/she does not complete all holes of a round. For hole-specific contests, completing the hole qualifies as active. If a round is not completed on the same day it was started, all contests will still be considered valid as long as the round is completed on the following day. |
eSports | DNP if the athlete does not participate in or complete all relevant maps in the contest. Technical issues during a map may result in DNP status. |
UFC/MMA | An athlete is considered inactive if he or she does not participate in a fight for at least one second. |
Baseball | • Pitcher is considered active after 1 pitch is thrown (must start, and must be the listed starter for pregame picks). |
Soccer | An athlete is considered active if they are listed as a starter and start in the match. |
Tennis | If a match is not completed on the same day it was started, all contests will still be considered valid as long as the match is completed on the following day. |
Cricket | Batter must face at least one delivery, including no-ball or wide ball, to be considered active. |
Special Cases
Reboot Injury Protection: If a player is injured and eligible, the pick will be voided, and the contest will settle based on remaining picks. Learn more here.
Traded Players: If a player is no longer a member of the listed team at contest time and does not play, that pick will not be included.
ParlayPlay Discretion: We may cancel contests, at our sole discretion, if unusual circumstances occur (e.g., if a user had access to stats that determined the outcome before making an entry, changes in market availability, etc).
Data errors from our stats provider may occasionally result in picks or contest entries being voided. This can happen due to:
Data outages
Event disruptions
Delayed updates
Statistical corrections made after markets are posted
If a market is flagged for correction, all picks or entries tied to the incorrect data will be voided. This applies even if the player later reaches the posted projection, since the issue is with the accuracy of the market itself.
When a data issue is identified, ParlayPlay’s Data Team takes immediate action by:
Removing the incorrect data and uploading the correct data
Voiding affected picks before the game starts or the period has started
Ensuring contests are graded only using accurate and verified statistics
These measures are in place to ensure fairness for all users and to maintain the integrity of ParlayPlay contests.
