How do First Point Scorer picks work?

Updated over 2 months ago

A First Point Scorer pick means you’re selecting the player who will score the very first points of the game.

What Counts as “First Points”?

  • The very first basket or free throw that results in points.

  • It can be a 2-pointer, 3-pointer, or free throw.

  • As long as that player is credited with the first official points on the box score, the pick wins.

Important Things to Know

  • If your selected player does not score the first points, the pick loses.

  • If the selected player does not play at all (DNP), the pick will be voided/canceled, even if the First Point Scorer stat was already recorded in the game.

  • If there’s a stat correction later (rare but possible), settlement follows the official final box score.

Example:

  • Tip-off happens.

  • Player A makes a layup → Player A is the First Point Scorer.

  • Your pick was for Player B. Even if your player scores on the next possession, it would not count.
