🧩 Creating Kits & Managing Components in Parspec
Learn how to create kits from multiple line items and control whether your customers see the components included in those kits.
🔨 What is a Kit?
A kit is a parent line item that groups together multiple components (line items), typically used for products sold as a package.
✅ Two Kit Use Cases
Hidden Components:
Components are grouped into a kit but are not visible to the customer.
Only the kit (parent item) appears in the submittal.
Visible Components:
Both the kit and its component line items are shown to the customer.
Useful when you want to show what makes up the kit or attach unique documents per item.
🛠 How to Create a Kit
Select multiple line items (e.g., using checkboxes).
Click “Create Kit”.
A blank kit line item will be added.
Click the arrow next to the kit to view its components.
Data sheets remain attached to each component.
Optional: Add a document at the kit level.
Rename the kit (e.g., “Area Lighting”).
🔒 Hiding Components in the Submittal
To hide components in your submittal package:
During submittal creation, go to the Contents Formatting step.
Toggle “Kit Component Breakdown” OFF.
Proceed to create the submittal.
In the Table of Contents:
Only the kit name will appear.
Data sheets from hidden components are still included under the kit.
👁️ Showing Components in the Submittal
To show components:
During submittal creation, go to Contents Formatting.
Toggle “Kit Component Breakdown” ON.
Recreate the submittal.
In the final document:
The kit appears as a parent line.
Each component is listed directly underneath with its details and attachments.
📌 Notes
Kits can help simplify the customer-facing submittal or provide greater transparency.
You can still attach individual documents to each component, even when they're grouped into a kit.
