Kits let you group multiple line items under a single parent product — giving you control over how much detail your customer sees in the final submittal package.
| 1.What is a Kit? |
A kit is a parent line item that groups together multiple components — typically used for products sold as a package. You can choose whether the components are visible or hidden in the customer-facing submittal.
Hidden Components — only the kit name appears in the submittal. Component datasheets are still included but not listed individually.
Visible Components — both the kit and each component are listed in the submittal. Useful when you want to show what's included or attach unique documents per component.
| 2.Create a Kit |
Select the line items you want to group using the checkboxes.
Click Create Kit — a blank kit line item will be added as the parent.
Click the arrow next to the kit to expand and view its components.
Rename the kit to something descriptive (e.g. "Area Lighting").
Optionally, add a document at the kit level in addition to component-level datasheets.
Tip: Datasheets already attached to individual components remain intact after grouping — you don't need to re-attach them when creating a kit. |
| 3.Control Component Visibility in Submittal Table of Contents |
When creating your submittal, use the Contents Formatting step to choose how kits appear:
Click Create Document → Create Submittal and navigate to the Contents Formatting step.
Find the Kit Component Breakdown toggle and choose an option:
A. Toggle OFF (Hide Components) — only the kit name appears in the Table of Contents. Component datasheets are still included in the package but not listed individually.
B. Toggle ON (Show Components) — the kit appears as a parent line with each component listed underneath, along with its details and attachments.
Click Compile Submittal to generate the package with your chosen layout.
Note: If you change the Kit Component Breakdown setting after compiling, you'll need to recreate the submittal for the new layout to take effect. |
