Linking manufacturer names, abbreviations, and ERP IDs helps Parspec accurately match products when you upload a BOM — and ensures the full manufacturer name appears correctly on your quotes and submittals.

Note: This setup is done by an admin in Account Settings. Manufacturer mappings apply across your account and improve search accuracy for all users.

1.Add Manufacturers from the Parspec Catalog

1. Click the gear icon in the bottom left to open Account Settings.

2. Select Manufacturers from the left navigation.

3. Click Parspec Catalog or Choose from Catalog.

4. Browse or search for manufacturers, then either:

A. Click the Add button next to individual manufacturers, or

B. Select multiple using the checkboxes and page through the list.

5. Once your selections are complete, click Add to Company Manufacturers.

2.Add Abbreviations and ERP IDs

1. Click into the Company Manufacturers subsection to view your saved manufacturers.

2. Select the checkbox next to a manufacturer and click the pencil (edit) icon.

3. Enter any abbreviations or ERP IDs in the available fields.

4. Click Confirm to save.

Tip: Adding abbreviations ensures Parspec can recognize shorthand manufacturer names (e.g., "ABB", "LEV") when products are uploaded — and will automatically convert them to the full name on submittals.

3.Add a Manufacturer Manually

1. In the Company Manufacturers section, type a manufacturer name into the manual entry field.

2. Select the manufacturer from the dropdown that appears.

3. Enter any abbreviations.

4. Select the branch location(s) this manufacturer applies to.

5. Click Save.

4.Import Manufacturers via Spreadsheet

1. In the Company Manufacturers section, click Download Template.

2. Open the spreadsheet and fill in the Manufacturer Name, Website, and Abbreviations columns.

3. Save the file and click Upload to import your list.

Tip: Use the import template when setting up a large number of manufacturers at once — it's much faster than adding them one by one.

Here are the different cases you may run into:

  • Manufacturer Name or website provided is recognized. A Parspec ID is associated and its corresponding support status may be one of the following:

High quality cutsheet suggestions will be shown for this manufacturer.

We are still gathering cutsheets from this manufacturer. Other search engines are still leveraged to provide relevant results, but will better support this manufacturer soon!

This manufacturer does not host cutsheets online, or does not sell lighting or electrical products.

  • Manufacturer is not recognized.

We’re likely using a different name internally. Click in the Parspec ID field to browse a list and find a match.

None of the Parspec ID options correspond to your manufacturer? Provide a website (paste manufacturer url) and the status will automatically update to 'Requested'. We will look at this manufacturer and gather their cutsheets as soon as possible.

Once your manufacturers are uploaded, you can edit them by clicking on [...]. Or after uploading a new list, you'll have the option to overwrite the existing list, or append to it.
