Step 1: Start a Quick Quote
You can start a Quick Quote from anywhere on your Dashboard:
From the Quotes tab: click Create Quote.
From any other tab: click Create and select Quote.
Step 2: Fill In the Quote Basics
Upload a file if you have one (optional). It accepts the same file types as Import Products.
Choose Standalone or Project:
Standalone (default) — creates a quick quote with no project. Best for stock quotes and one-offs. When creating a standalone, you will search for the quote post-creation in the
Project — creates a project, opportunity, and BOM, as usual.
Select a Branch Location, Primary Customer, and/or Outside Sales Rep.
Click Continue.
What comes next depends on your choices:
Standalone, no file — you go straight to the Pricing & Lead Time tab with a blank line and your cursor in the Model Number cell, ready to type.
Standalone + file — you go to the Import step.
Project, no file — you go to the Project Details step.
Project + file — you go to Project Details, then Import.
Tip: For a quick stock quote, leave Standalone selected, skip the upload, and click Continue. You'll be typing model numbers in seconds.
(If Selecting Project vs Standalone)
Review the project details. If you uploaded a file, Parspec fills these in from it.
Fill in anything that's missing.
Click Continue.
Review Imported Products (If You Uploaded a File)
Review your lines in Product View and make any edits you need.
Click Continue. Your products land in the Pricing & Lead Time tab.
Convert a Standalone Quote to a Project (Optional)
If a quick quote grows into a bigger job, you can attach it to a project at any time.
Open the standalone BOM.
Click the + icon in the header, where the project icon usually appears.
Attach the BOM to an existing project, or create a new one.
Once it's attached, the BOM works like any other BOM in a project. Any files you uploaded in Create Quote appear in the project files.
FAQs
Who can see a standalone quote?
The quote's Branch Location controls who can access it, just like other BOMs.
What shows as the project name on documents?
The BOM name. Anywhere a project or opportunity field would normally show, you'll see a dash (-).
Can I use Manage BOMs on a standalone quote?
No. Convert it to a project first, and then Manage BOMs becomes available.
Why did the Create buttons on my Dashboard move?
Each tab now shows the button that fits it: Create Quote on Quotes, Create BOM on BOMs, and Create Order on Orders (rep agencies only). Every tab also has a Create dropdown so you can create a Project, BOM, Quote, or Order from anywhere.
