Learn how to edit employee super details with our simple guide below.

Step 1: Go to People

From your Payroller dashboard, select People from the left-hand menu.

Select the employee whose super details you want to update.

Step 2: Open Employment Details

Click the three dots (⋮) next to the employee's name and select Employment details.

Step 3: Select Bank & Super

From the employee's profile, select Bank & Super.

Step 4: Update the Super Details

Update the required superannuation information.

You can update:

  • Super fund – Select the employee's nominated super fund.

  • Membership number – Enter the employee's super fund membership number.

  • Contribution rate – Enter the applicable super contribution percentage.

Make sure the information entered matches the details provided by the employee or their super fund.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

Once you have reviewed the information, select Save.

The employee's super details have now been updated.

Editing Super for an Existing Pay Run

Updating an employee's super details is different from changing the super amount for a pay run that has already been created.

If you need to correct the super amount for a specific pay run, open the relevant pay run and edit the super contribution from the pay run.

This allows you to make an adjustment without changing the employee's ongoing super contribution settings.

Before Submitting a Super Payment

If you are submitting a super payment through Payroller, check the employee's super details before confirming the payment.

Make sure:

  • The correct super fund has been selected.

  • The membership number is correct.

  • The employee's super contribution rate is correct.

  • The correct employee has been selected.

  • Any required super adjustments have been made before submitting the payment.

If Payroller displays an error or warning when preparing the super payment, review the employee's details and correct any missing or incorrect information before continuing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will changing an employee's super details update previous pay runs?

No. Updating the employee's super details generally applies to future payroll calculations. If a previous pay run contains incorrect super information, you may need to edit the super amount directly within that pay run.

Can I change an employee's super contribution rate?

Yes. You can update the contribution rate from the employee's Bank & Super section.

What if I only need to change the super amount for one pay run?

You can edit the super contribution directly within the relevant pay run rather than changing the employee's ongoing contribution rate.

What should I do if my super payment shows an error?

Review the employee's super fund and membership details and make sure all required information is correct. Once the details have been updated, return to the super payment and try submitting it again.

Summary

To update an employee's super details:

People → Employee → Employment details → Bank & Super → Update details → Save

Always check the employee's super fund and membership details carefully before submitting a super payment.

Employers may be unable to verify an employee’s super fund details through the Member Verification Request (MVR) function in Beam Super Payments if the destination super fund has not yet implemented or enabled Member Verification Outcome Response (MVOR).

This does not prevent you from submitting your super payment. If you were able to submit payments successfully before, you may continue submitting as usual.
