Most research shows that pelvic floor training won't improve or reverse the grade of a prolapse, or necessarily stop a prolapse from progressing.

However, studies have shown that pelvic floor exercises can be effective in improving prolapse symptoms (like reducing a feeling of heaviness or bulging), especially for mild to moderate prolapse (grade 1 or 2), and may also improve sexual function and quality of life.

If you have a prolapse, it's especially important to be mindful of your pelvic floor exercise technique to avoid putting any extra pressure on your pelvic floor organs. We recommend consulting or working with a pelvic floor specialist to make sure that pelvic floor exercises are appropriate for your specific case.
