Pelvic floor symptoms do not always improve at the same pace, and in some cases they may even seem to worsen. This article will help you determine whether you should adjust your training routine or consult a pelvic health professional.
First: Is There a Real Worsening?
Take a moment to consider whether your symptoms have clearly worsened since starting training, or whether they simply have not improved yet.
If your symptoms have noticeably worsened, we recommend pausing your Perifit Care(+) training and consulting a pelvic health professional. Pelvic floor symptoms can have many different causes, and they are not always related to muscle weakness. A specialist can assess your individual situation and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
If Your Symptoms Are Not Improving
A few adjustments may help you get better results:
1. Review Your Training Routine
A good general guideline is:
5 sessions per week
About 8 minutes per session
Training more than this may lead to muscle fatigue and temporarily reduce effectiveness. If you suspect this is the case, try reducing the duration or frequency of your sessions, or take a short break.
2. Focus on Contraction Quality
Check your average Contraction Quality score in the Progress tab.
Aim for a score of 80% or higher. Lower scores may indicate that other muscles, such as your abdominals or glutes, are compensating. Improving your technique often leads to better results.
3. Verify Your Health Targets
Make sure your selected Health Targets match your current symptoms and goals:
Settings → My Health Information
These targets determine the contraction patterns used during your training.
When to Seek Additional Support
If you have been training consistently for 10–12 weeks without improvement, or sooner if your symptoms worsen, we strongly recommend consulting a pelvic health professional.
They can help identify any underlying factors and ensure that your training is appropriate for your specific needs.
