It’s not uncommon for new Perifit Care users to notice their symptoms of incontinence getting worse during the first few weeks of training. Here’s why this might happen and how to manage it.

If you've recently started using Perifit Care and feel like your incontinence symptoms are getting worse instead of better, don’t worry—it’s a fairly common experience, especially in the first few weeks of training.

When your pelvic floor muscles aren’t used to working out, suddenly exercising them a few times a week can leave them temporarily fatigued. This can make it harder to hold urine the way you used to, but the good news is that it’s usually short-lived!

Just like when you start a new gym routine and feel sore at first, your pelvic floor muscles need time to adjust. As they get stronger, your symptoms should start improving.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • It’s normal to feel a temporary change in symptoms – Fatigue can make the muscles feel weaker at first, but this typically improves after a few weeks of consistent training.

  • You can adjust the frequency/intensity if needed – If symptoms feel too intense and your muscles too tired, try reducing the frequency and length of your sessions or focusing on gentler exercises before gradually increasing again.

  • Listen to your body – If symptoms get significantly worse, cause pain, or don’t improve after a few weeks, we recommend checking in with a health professional. While pelvic floor training helps in most cases, there can be other underlying factors that contribute to incontinence. A specialist can help rule these out and offer personalized guidance.
