Overview

The Personal Settings screen allows you to manage your Perkstar account details, including your contact information, regional preferences, and account security. This guide covers how to update your personal information, change your password, configure display settings, and manage your account.

  • Set your preferred language, timezone, and currency

  • Configure date format preferences

Before You Begin

Requirements:

  • Active Perkstar account

  • Current password (required for certain changes)

  • Valid email address (if updating email)

info: Changes made to your personal settings apply to your account immediately after saving. Some changes, like language or timezone, may require refreshing your browser to take full effect.


Accessing Personal Settings

Navigating to Personal Settings

Step 1: Log in to your Perkstar account

Step 2: Click the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top navigation

Step 3: Select Personal Settings from the menu

This opens the Personal Settings page where you can edit all your account information.


Managing Personal Information

Name and Contact Information

First Name *

  • Enter your first name

  • Required field

  • Used for account identification and communications

Last Name *

  • Enter your last name

  • Required field

  • Appears in account records and correspondence

Email *

  • Your account email address

  • Used for login and important notifications

  • Must be unique in the system

  • Required field

Warning: Changing your email address will update your login username. Make sure you remember the new email for future logins.

Phone

  • Your contact phone number

  • Select your country code from the international dropdown

  • Includes all international dialing codes

  • Useful for account recovery and notifications

Company Name

  • Name of your business or organization

  • Optional field

  • Appears in certain reports and communications

Security Settings

New Password

  • Create a new password to update your account security

  • Leave blank if you don't want to change your password

  • Should be strong and unique

Repeat Password

  • Re-enter your new password to confirm

  • Must match the New Password field exactly

  • Prevents accidental password errors

Tip: Use a strong password with a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Consider using a password manager to generate and store secure passwords.

Regional and Display Settings

Date and Time Configuration

Date Format

  • Choose how dates appear throughout the system

  • Common formats available (e.g., DD.MM.YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD)

  • Affects date displays in reports, transactions, and analytics

Timezone

  • Set your local timezone

  • Ensures timestamps display correctly

  • Format: (UTC offset) City name

  • Example: (UTC+01:00) London

Note: Setting the correct timezone ensures that transaction times, scheduled campaigns, and analytics show accurate local times for your business.

Country

  • Select your country

  • Helps with regional settings and defaults

  • May affect available features or payment options

Language

  • Choose your preferred interface language

  • Available languages depend on your account

  • Changes all text in the Perkstar interface

Currency

  • Select your business currency

  • Affects how monetary values display

  • Common currencies available (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.)

  • Example: Pound Sterling (GBP)

Warning: Changing your currency affects how values display but does not convert existing data. Choose your currency carefully during initial setup.

Company Category

  • Select the category that best describes your business

  • Helps Perkstar provide relevant features and insights

  • Optional but recommended

Saving Your Changes

After making any updates to your personal settings:

Step 1: Review all changes to ensure accuracy

Step 2: Click the Save button at the bottom of the page

Result: Your changes are applied immediately. You'll see a confirmation message indicating your settings have been updated successfully.

Tip: If you change your language or timezone settings, refresh your browser to ensure all interface elements update properly.

Deleting Your Account

If you need to delete your Perkstar account, you can do so from the Personal Settings page.

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data, including customer information, transaction history, and card templates, will be permanently deleted.

Before You Delete

We're sorry to see you leave. Before you delete your account, we appreciate your feedback to help us improve our service.

Feedback Options:

Please select one or more reasons why you're leaving:

  • Struggling to use the service - The platform was difficult to navigate or use

  • Customers don't need digital cards - Your customers prefer physical cards or other methods

  • Service does not provide the features I need - Missing functionality important to your business

Deletion Process

Step 1: Scroll to the Delete User section at the bottom of Personal Settings

Step 2: Select your reason(s) for leaving (optional but appreciated)

Step 3: Click the Delete User button

Step 4: A confirmation dialog appears

Step 5: Enter your current password to confirm deletion

Step 6: Click Confirm to permanently delete your account

Result: Your account and all associated data are permanently deleted. You will be logged out immediately.

Warning: If you delete your account, all personal information and customer data will be lost. This includes all customer profiles, transaction history, card templates, campaigns, and analytics. This action cannot be reversed.

What Happens After Deletion

  • Your account is immediately deactivated

  • All customer data is permanently deleted

  • All card templates and campaigns are removed

  • Transaction history is erased

  • Your email address becomes available for new account registration

  • Any active subscriptions are cancelled

  • You will not be billed further

For Account Security

Use a strong password: Create a unique password that's difficult to guess. Avoid using the same password across multiple services.

Update password regularly: Consider changing your password every 3-6 months for enhanced security.

Keep email current: Ensure your email address is up-to-date for password recovery and important notifications.

Enable two-factor authentication: If available in your account, enable additional security measures.

For Regional Settings

Set timezone correctly: This ensures all timestamps in reports and analytics reflect your local business hours.

Choose appropriate currency: Select the currency you use for business transactions to avoid confusion.

Select accurate country: This may affect available features, payment processing, and regional compliance.

Pick the right language: Choose the language your team is most comfortable with for easier navigation.

For Account Management

Review settings quarterly: Periodically check that your personal settings still reflect your current information.

Update contact information promptly: If your email or phone changes, update it immediately to avoid losing access to your account.

Troubleshooting

Cannot Save Changes

Problem: Save button doesn't work or changes don't persist

Solutions:

  • Ensure all required fields (marked with *) are filled in

  • Check that passwords match if you're changing your password

  • Verify email format is correct (must include @ and domain)

  • Try clearing browser cache and attempting again

  • Check for error messages that indicate specific field issues

Email Already in Use

Problem: System says email address is already registered

Solutions:

  • Verify you're not already using this email for another Perkstar account

  • Check for typos in the email address

  • If you previously had an account with this email, it may need to be deleted first

  • Contact support if you believe this is an error

Password Not Updating

Problem: New password doesn't work after saving

Solutions:

  • Ensure New Password and Repeat Password fields matched exactly

  • Check that password meets any strength requirements

  • Verify you clicked Save after entering the new password

  • Try logging out and back in with the new password

  • Use the "Forgot Password" feature if you're locked out

Timezone Not Displaying Correctly

Problem: Times still show in wrong timezone after changing setting

Solutions:

  • Refresh your browser after changing timezone

  • Clear browser cache and cookies

  • Log out and log back in to refresh your session

  • Verify you selected the correct timezone from the dropdown

  • Check that your device's clock is set correctly

Language Change Not Taking Effect

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I change my email address?

Your email address is your login username. After changing it, you must use the new email address to log in. All future notifications and communications will be sent to the new email address.

Will changing my timezone affect historical data?

No, changing your timezone only affects how future timestamps are displayed. Historical transaction times remain as they were recorded but will display according to your new timezone setting.

Can I change my currency after I've already created cards?

Yes, but changing currency only affects how new values are displayed. It does not convert existing transaction amounts or card values. Be cautious when changing currency after your account is active.

How often can I change my password?

You can change your password as often as you like. There is no limit to password changes, though we recommend changing it every 3-6 months for security.

What if I forget my password after changing it?

Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page. You'll receive a password reset email at your registered email address.

Do I need to update anything after changing my language?

After changing your language, refresh your browser to ensure all interface elements display in the new language. Some elements may remain in the original language if translations are not yet available.

Can I recover my account after deleting it?

No, account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All data is permanently erased. If you delete your account and want to use Perkstar again, you'll need to create a new account from scratch.

What information is required vs. optional?

Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*): First Name, Last Name, and Email. All other fields are optional but recommended for a complete profile.

Will my managers see if I change these settings?

Personal settings are specific to your account. Managers have their own personal settings and cannot see or modify yours. However, some settings like currency and timezone may affect how data displays for all users in your account.

How do I know my changes were saved successfully?

After clicking Save, you should see a confirmation message indicating your settings were updated successfully. If you don't see this message, your changes may not have been saved.

Can I use an international phone number?

Yes, the phone field supports international numbers. Simply select your country code from the dropdown menu before entering your phone number.

What should I do before deleting my account?

Before deleting your account, export any important data, transaction reports, or customer information you want to keep. Also, ensure you've cancelled any active subscriptions or resolved outstanding payments.
