Overview

A stamp card with multiple rewards lets you set up rewards at different milestones so customers can see exactly which rewards they can earn and how many stamps are needed for each one. For example, you might offer a small reward at 3 stamps, a bigger one at 6, and the top reward at 9.

Rewards are not granted automatically — they become available for redemption once the required number of stamps is collected.

Important: The stamp card itself must first be created using the main stamp card setup guide. The steps in this article are additional settings required only when using multiple rewards.

Configure the card design

To properly display multiple rewards, you need a background image that shows each reward positioned at the correct stamp milestone. You can create this using the Perkstar Multi-Reward Card Designer at design.perkstar.co.uk.

Note: The designer is desktop only and does not work on mobile devices.

Once you've created and downloaded your background image, configure the following design settings.

Step 1: Upload a background under stamps

Upload the background image you created with the Multi-Reward Card Designer, or your own custom image showing the rewards at each milestone.

  1. In the Design section, scroll to Background under stamps.

  2. Click Select File and upload your background image.

Tip: If you're creating your own image without the designer, make sure each reward is positioned at the correct stamp location. Minimum file size is 1125 x 432 pixels.

Step 2: Upload an active stamp image

Upload the image that appears when a customer earns a stamp.

  1. Under Active stamp, click Select File and upload your active stamp image.

Step 3: Use a transparent inactive stamp image

Upload a transparent image for inactive stamps so the background with upcoming rewards remains visible beneath them.

  1. Under Inactive stamp, click Select File and upload a transparent stamp image.

Step 4: Set the stamp background and outline colours to transparent

By default, the stamp background colour and outline colour are solid colours that overlay on top of your uploaded background image — hiding it and adding unwanted borders around each stamp. You must set both to transparent.

  1. In the Colors section, find Stamp Background.

  2. Set the colour code to #0000 (fully transparent).

  3. Find Outline Color.

  4. Set the colour code to #0000 (fully transparent).

Important: If you skip this step, the stamp background colour will cover your uploaded background image and the outline colour will add a visible border around every stamp. Both must be set to #0000 for the multi-reward background to display correctly.

As a result, customers see a clear reward roadmap showing all upcoming rewards directly on the card.

Set up multi rewards

Step 1: Enter reward milestones

  1. In the Information section, locate the Multi rewards field.

  2. Enter the stamp milestones separated by commas (e.g., 3,6,9).

At each milestone, the reward becomes available to the customer for redemption.

Step 2: Describe rewards in terms of use

When a customer earns enough stamps to unlock a reward, the front of the card only shows the number of available rewards (e.g., "Available rewards: 1"). It does not display the name or details of the reward. Customers will see "Reward 1," "Reward 2," "Reward 3" as they collect them — but not what each reward actually is.

To make sure your customers know what they've earned, describe each reward in the Terms of Use:

  1. In the Information section, enable the Terms of use toggle.

  2. Clearly list which reward is available at each stamp milestone. For example:

    • 3 stamps = Free coffee

    • 6 stamps = 20% off any item

    • 9 stamps = Free meal for two

  3. Include any conditions required to redeem the reward.

Tip: This information is always visible on the back of the card and available to the customer at all times. It's the only place where customers can see exactly what each reward gives them, so make it clear and specific.

Note: You can also include this information in the Reward Details field in the Information section, which appears on the back of the card and in PDF promotional materials.

FAQs

Are multiple rewards issued automatically?

No. Rewards are not issued automatically — they become available only after the customer collects the required number of stamps. The customer can then redeem the reward according to your program rules.

Do I need to follow the main stamp card guide first?

Yes. The steps in this article are additional configuration on top of the standard stamp card setup. Create your stamp card using the main guide first, then apply these multi-reward settings.

Why can't I see the rewards on my card?

Check three things: first, make sure your inactive stamp image is transparent — if it's opaque, it will cover the background. Second, confirm that your background image is uploaded under Background under stamps in the Design section. Third, check that both Stamp Background and Outline Color in the Colors section are set to #0000 (transparent) — if either is set to a solid colour, it will overlay on top of your background image or add unwanted borders around the stamps.

My customer earned a reward but doesn't know what it is — why?

The front of the card only shows the number of available rewards (e.g., "Available rewards: 2"), not the reward names or descriptions. To make sure customers know what they've earned, list each reward and its stamp milestone in the Terms of Use field in the card's Information section. This information is always visible on the back of the card.
