Overview

Perkstar provides a digital loyalty card platform that businesses use to create and manage their own loyalty programs. We take fraud seriously and have built-in safeguards to protect both businesses and their customers. This article explains how our security features work, what constitutes misuse, and how to report any concerns.

How Perkstar prevents fraud

Every loyalty card created through Perkstar includes built-in security features:

  • Unique QR codes — Each customer's QR code is unique and tied to their individual account. QR codes cannot be duplicated or shared between customers

  • Transaction timestamps — Every stamp, point accrual, and redemption is recorded with a timestamp, creating a full audit trail

  • Manager tracking — Every transaction records which staff member processed it, providing accountability

  • Card serial numbers — Each card has a unique serial number for identification and verification

These features make it extremely difficult to fake, duplicate, or manipulate loyalty cards.

What Perkstar is and isn't

Perkstar is a platform provider. We provide the technology that businesses use to create and run their own loyalty programs. Each business using Perkstar operates independently and is responsible for their own loyalty program, rewards, and customer interactions.

Important: If you received a loyalty card, gift card, or coupon from a business and have questions about your balance, rewards, or purchases, please contact that business directly. Perkstar does not manage individual businesses' customer accounts, balances, or transactions.

Acceptable use

Using Perkstar to engage in fraudulent or deceptive activity is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Creating fraudulent loyalty schemes designed to deceive customers

  • Issuing counterfeit cards or falsifying transaction records

  • Manipulating point balances, stamps, or rewards dishonestly

  • Using the platform to collect customer data for purposes other than operating a legitimate loyalty program

  • Misrepresenting your business identity or the rewards you offer

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account. For full details, refer to the Perkstar Acceptable Use Policy and Subscription Agreement.

Reporting suspicious activity

If you suspect a business is using Perkstar to commit fraud, deceive customers, or violate our acceptable use terms, we want to know. Reporting helps us protect the integrity of the platform and the customers who use it.

To report suspicious activity, email support@perkstar.co.uk with the following details:

  • The name of the business or loyalty program involved

  • A description of the suspected fraudulent activity

  • Any supporting evidence (screenshots, card details, transaction information)

All reports are reviewed by our team and treated confidentially.

FAQs

I received a gift card or loyalty card from a business — can Perkstar help with my purchase?

Perkstar is the technology platform, not the business that issued your card. For questions about your balance, rewards, receipts, or purchases, please contact the business that gave you the card directly.

Can someone copy my loyalty card QR code?

Each QR code is unique and tied to your specific account. Even if someone photographs the QR code, any transaction processed against it is recorded with a timestamp and linked to your profile — making fraudulent use detectable.

I think a business is misusing Perkstar — what should I do?

Email support@perkstar.co.uk with the business name, a description of the issue, and any evidence you have. Our team will investigate.

What happens if a business violates the acceptable use policy?

Accounts found to be in violation may be suspended or terminated. We take all reports seriously and investigate each case.
