If you are unsure whether your Meta Pixel (Facebook & Instagram) integration is working properly, you can go through the following points in order:

Note 💡

Before you test your Meta integration, you first need to set it up. We explain how to do this in just a few minutes in a step-by-step video.

How do I test my Meta Pixel & CAPI integration?

Option A: Test with the "Pixel Helper" via your browser

The Meta Pixel Helper is a Google Chrome plugin that shows you whether a Meta Pixel is installed and actively firing on a specific website (and your funnel).

  1. Install the Meta Pixel Helper plugin for your browser

  2. Open the administration of your browser extensions and click on Details for the Pixel Helper plugin

  3. Change the website access to "On click" to ensure that the helper reloads the funnel and recognises the pixel

  4. Open the live funnel where your pixel is stored

  5. Now start the Pixel Helper plugin

  6. Here you will now find your pixel ID and the "Page Viewed" event

  7. If this information appears, your pixel is correctly stored and working. Great, you've done it!

Option B: Testing in the Events Manager

Another option is to test the pixel directly via the Meta Events Manager:

  1. Open the data sources in the Events Manager of your Meta Business Manager account

  2. Select the pixel that is linked to your funnel

  3. Click on "Test events" and copy the test code, e.g. TEST64801

  4. Open the Meta Pixel settings of your funnel

  5. Expand advanced settings

  6. Paste the test code into the field

  7. Click on Save and publish the changes

  8. Open the funnel and run through it yourself (please make sure that you delete the cookies before your test run and then accept them again when running through the funnel)

  9. Open the "Test events" section of the pixel in the Meta Business Manager

  10. Events received are displayed as activity

Important Note: To ensure that all data is recorded correctly by Meta, the test code should be removed from the funnel when the funnel is actively used.

What can I do if my Pixel does not send events according to Pixel Helper?

Publish changes

Have you republished the funnel once after entering the pixel ID? This must always be done if changes have been made to the funnel in order to upload them to the active funnel (i.e. also after adding your pixel ID).

Cookies and cache

Have you cleared both the cookies and cache, accessed the funnel, refreshed the
page, selected "Accept all cookies," and subsequently completed the registration
process again? Your browser remembers when cookies have been rejected and does not ask you again. If you have rejected cookies in the past, the pixel may not fire.

Check other integrations

Have you also installed the Meta Pixel in Google Tag Manager? Then please decide on a location (we recommend our direct integration). Otherwise, the two systems may block each other.

What can I do if my Pixel sends events according to Pixel Helper, but still no events arrive?

Processing time

It sometimes takes between 30 and 60 minutes for the events to appear in the Events Manager. You will then see the update in the Events Manager on the right under "Last updated".

Check Pixel ID

Do the pixel IDs in the Meta Events Manager and in your funnel match? Are all digits of the number sequence there?
