Godaddy domain guide

Learn how to link your Godaddy domain to your Perspective account

Create CNAME entry

To fully link the domain to Perspective, you need to create a CNAME record with your domain registrar. Only then will the funnels be accessible on this linked domain.

ℹ️ Important: GoDaddy only allows CNAME entries for subdomains (e.g. www. mycompany.com) and not for root domains (e.g. mycompany.com).

Therefore, please make sure that the domain linked in Perspective is a subdomain.

If you want to use your domain without the subdomain part (e.g. www.), you need to set up a redirect. You can find out how to do this at the end of this article.

1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.

2. Navigate to the Domain section.

3. Click on your domain to open its settings and go to the DNS tab.

4. Click Add New Record.

5. Fill in the fields for the new record using the information below and click Save.

Type: CNAME

Name: Enter the subdomain part of your domain (this is the part before the first dot, i.e. jobs at jobs.domain.co)

Value: cname.perspective-dns.com.

TTL: 1 hour

6. The CNAME entry was successfully created.

7. Check the status of the domain in Perspective or view the instructions again.

Note: Depending on the domain provider, the verification of the CNAME entry takes up to 24 hours and thus also the waiting time until the funnel becomes visible on your domain.

How to set up a redirect for the GoDaddy domain

If you want to use your domain without the subdomain part (i.e. www.), you have to set up a forwarding for it.

1. In the Domain section, click on your domain to open its settings and go to the DNS tab. Then navigate to the Forwarding tab.

4. Click Add Forwarding and change the target settings using the information below. Click Save.

Forwarding: "https://www.domain.com" (replace "domain.com" with your domain name)

Forwarding type: Permanent (301)

6. You'll see a success message and your forwarding will appear in the list.

Note 💡

Please note that our SSL certificate only works for the domain/subdomain you connected to Perspective (www.domain.com). It doesn't apply to the domain where you're forwarding your visitors.

You therefore need a separate SSL certificate for the domain via which you redirect your visitors to the domain linked to Perspective (usually the root domain, e.g. domain.com).

If this certificate is missing, security warnings may be generated by the browser when a funnel is called.

Here you can find instructions on how to purchase an SSL certificate from Godaddy and then integrate it for your domain.
