Easily connect Perspective with Meta (Facebook & Instagram) to track user interactions & conversions from your Meta ads (Facebook & Instagram). Use this data to optimize your ads, build audiences, and retarget visitors who didn’t convert.
How to add Meta Tracking to your funnel:
1. Go to your funnel in Perspective, click on "Apps" and then on "Meta (Facebook & Instagram)".
2. A pop-up window will open - there you can click "connect" on the top right
3. Now you can see the Integration, where you should insert your Pixel ID. We’ll get this Pixel ID from Meta in the next steps.
4. Go to the Meta Business Suite, click on "All Tools" in the left menu and then on "Events Manager".
5. A new tab will open. At the top left you’ll find this small window. Click on "Connect Data".
6. Select "Web".
7. Select "Create new dataset".
8. Now enter a clear and understandable name for your Pixel and uncheck the box. Then click "Create" at the bottom.
9. Now select "Set up manually" and click "Continue" at the bottom.
10. For now: Choose "Meta Pixel only" and click on "Next". We will connect the Conversion API in another, easier way.
11. Now go back to the "Events Manager" and to "Data Sources" and in the dropdown menu at the top, click the down arrow to select the Pixel you just created.
12. Then click "Settings" on the right. Here we now find the "Dataset ID" (this is the Pixel ID we need for the funnel). Click on the number once, then it is copied to your clipboard.
13. Go back to your funnel and paste the "Pixel ID or Dataset ID" into the field.
14. Now go back to the "Events Manager" settings page in Meta and scroll down. Activate these two buttons.
15. Scroll further down to "Set up direct integration" and click on the blue text "Generate access token". Now wait 3-5 seconds.
16. Click on the access token – it is then copied to your clipboard.
17. Switch back to Perspective, click "Show advanced options".
18. Then paste the access key into the corresponding field.
19. Now we want to assign the events that will be triggered correctly in your funnel. For this, click on "Add Entry", then two dropdown boxes will appear. Connect the appropriate page or element with the desired events.
💡 Pro tip: For the action that should be executed, always use the "Lead" event. For optimal tracking accuracy, don’t place this "Lead" event on the thank-you page, but on the button used to submit the form. Otherwise leads can get counted multiple times, when people reload the thank-you page, which can mess up your metrics in the meta ads manager.
20. When you´ve set up all the Events you want to track, click on "Save settings".
21. To make sure everything is applied, as the last step you of course need to publish your funnel again. Best do this directly by clicking the lightning bolt at the top of the menu bar.
23. Done – your funnel tracking is now fully set up. 🎉
Testing whether your tracking works:
Open your funnel and make 2-3 test entries yourself.
You can use the Meta Pixel Helper to check whether your Pixel is firing. (Note: You must have accepted all cookies and deactivated your ad blocker, otherwise no data will be transmitted)
Open your funnel again and check whether the Meta Pixel Helper shows the correct events with a green check mark (Note: You can find the Meta Pixel Helper after installation at the top right of the browser after clicking the puzzle piece icon).
4. If that works, also check the Events Manager in Meta to see whether the activity was received there. IMPORTANT: It takes up to 30–50 minutes until the data is displayed there. So give it some time before you start troubleshooting.
This is how it should look in the Events Manager if everything is set up correctly. You’ll see the event name as well as the number of times it was triggered. You’ll also see when it was last activated.
If your events do not appear on Meta:
Option 1: The custom events must be confirmed.
1. Go to Events Manager and check if there is an error message like this at the top. If so, click on "Review".
2. Then click on "I acknowledge".
3. Now check ALL events and click "Next" at the bottom.
4. Scroll down to "Here’s what you can do", select the option "Confirm custom event" and click "Confirm" at the bottom right.
5. Lastly, click "Done".
6. Now reload the Events Manager page. The message should now be gone and your events listed below.
Option 2: A setup problem
If you suspect that your events are not being recorded in the Events Manager due to a technical error, go through the following steps one by one:
Check whether your Pixel ID was entered correctly.
Check whether the Meta integration in the apps is activated or if the toggle button is off – it should be green.
Make sure you published your funnel changes after entering the Pixel ID.
Clear your browser’s cookies and cache to remove stored data that might cause issues.
Submit a test lead: Go through your funnel completely yourself (be sure to accept all cookies).
Wait 30 minutes. Sometimes there may be delays in displaying events on Meta.
Check the "Overview" section in your Meta Events Manager for incoming events.
💡 Pro tip: Check if your ad blocker is deactivated during the test entry (it usually blocks all cookies) and give Meta 30–60 minutes until the data is actually displayed.

You still see the old funnel preview in your ad
After you’ve made and published changes to your funnel’s social preview/link preview, these should also appear in your ad, including the preview image and text.
If they don’t, Meta may still be showing the old information. This will update automatically in the next few hours.
But if you want to fix this immediately, you can clear the Meta cache. This helps Meta show your latest changes. Learn how to clear the cache here.
Explanation: These are the automatically sent events
With the Meta Pixel integration, some events in your funnel are automatically tracked. We’ve added these to ensure higher data quality. These include, among others:
PageView
Sent when a specific funnel page is visited.
Here, the page-specific URL ending is also always included, e.g. "PageView: page_e3ia8k".
💡 Pro tip: You can manually adjust the page-specific URL ending via the page settings if necessary. To do this, go into Perspective, click on the desired funnel page in the left column and then on the three dots next to the respective page. Then you can click on "Change URL" and adjust it.
Funnel Completed
Sent when your lead has reached the last funnel page
Session Converted
Sent when a form with an email address or phone number is sent by the visitor
Funnel Closed
Sent when your lead has closed the funnel (tab closed)
