What this is

Livestock keeps mob locations, movements, treatments, weights, feeding and operational records together. It supports paddock mobs and feedlot workflows from the same workspace.

Where to find it

MoreFarm OperationsLivestock.

Create and manage a mob

Select New mob, then add the species, stock class, head count, enterprise and current paddock or location. Use names that staff will recognise in the yards and paddock.

Open a mob to record common jobs:

  • Move to change its paddock or location

  • Treat to record a treatment

  • Weigh to add a mob weight

  • Feedlot to start a feeding program

  • Sell to record animals leaving the farm

  • Split or Merge to keep head counts and history with the right mobs

  • Task, Note or Loss for follow-up work and events

  • Import EIDs where individual electronic IDs are used

The Overview shows head count, active mobs, occupied paddocks and items needing attention. The Mobs view can be filtered by species, sale readiness or attention state.

Species filters include Cattle, Sheep, Goats and Other when those mobs exist. If a mob looks missing, return to All mobs and check the chips. Open Edit on a mob if it was given the wrong species.

Edit a joining

Open a mob's joining panel, or the Bull in/Ram in line under History, and select Edit. Change the sire group, start date or joining length, then save. Phase moves the bull-out or ram-out reminder and the calving or lambing window with the edited joining. If the original joining had no reminder, setting a length during the edit creates one.

Import livestock records

Use Import CSV for a supported livestock file. Review the destination mobs and head counts after importing. An EID import does not automatically establish an accurate mob head count; if Phase shows EIDs but no head count, open the mob and confirm its numbers.

Use the livestock tools menu to export a CSV when you need a portable record.

Feedlot workflow

  1. Open Feedlot and build the rations used on farm.

  2. Add the mob to Feedlot and create its feeding program, including starting details, targets and ration stages.

  3. Open the mob and select Feed to record total kilograms, or loads and kilograms per load.

  4. Select the ration and check the head count used for the feed record.

  5. If the ration ingredients are linked to Inventory, choose whether this feed should deduct stock.

  6. Use Weigh, Move and Treat as work occurs.

  7. Select Exit when the mob leaves the program, then record its destination and optional final weight.

Before deducting feed stock, check every ration ingredient, quantity and storage source. A feed record can be kept without deducting Inventory when the stock detail is not ready.

To formulate a ration, open LivestockRecordsRationsBuild a ration, then Work the mix out for me. Add the ingredients, target energy in MJ/kg DM, target protein as % CP and batch size. Enter prices when you want Phase to choose the lowest-cost combination that reaches the target, then select Use this mix to place the calculated kilograms on the ingredient rows.

You can set one target and leave the other blank. Ingredients missing dry matter, energy or protein values are named and left out rather than guessed. When the available ingredients cannot reach the target, Phase shows the closest mix and explains the limiting values so you can decide whether another ingredient is needed.

Records and Water

Use Records to review movements, treatments, weights, losses, sales, tasks and notes. Use Water for livestock water points and checks where configured.

Treatment safety

Phase stores operational records; it does not diagnose animals or decide a treatment. Follow the product label and veterinarian advice, and verify withholding periods and export slaughter intervals before treating, moving or selling stock.
