In this article, we will cover the Related Points feature, including how to link points, view and remove relationships, and the permissions that control who can use it.
Related Points lets you link points to one another. It's the first cross-site linking feature in Pinpoint Works, allowing connections between work items across your site — or across multiple sites on the same account.
Linking Points
Every point card now includes a Related Points section. To add a link:
Select Add Related Point within the section.
Select the site the point you want to link belongs to.
Search for and select the point.
Once selected, you will need to select the tickbox at the end of the row to relate the Points together.
Now you will see all Related Points on the Point Card
You can link points on the same site or across any site on your account that you have permission to access. Once linked, the relationship appears automatically on both point cards.
Please note:
To create a relationship across two sites, you must have permission to add relationships on both sites. If you don't have permission on one of the sites involved, the Add Related Point button will be disabled, and a message will appear below it reading "You don't have permission to use this feature, contact admin."
A point cannot be linked to itself, and points that are already related to the current point won't appear as selectable options when adding a new link.
Viewing and Navigating Related Points
Related points appear listed under the Related Points section of a point card. Clicking any listed related point opens its point card directly.
If a related point is on another site, it only appears if you have view access to that site — points on sites you can't access are automatically hidden and won't appear in the Related Points section or in the activity feed.
Please note: If you navigate to a related point while viewing the Overview, you remain in the Overview.
Removing a Related Point
To remove a related point, select the remove option on the linked point within the Related Points section.
You'll be asked to confirm before the link is deleted. Once removed, the relationship is cleared from both point cards.
Related Points Icon in the Work List Table
Points with at least one linked point display a relationship icon in the work list table, visible on both the site view and the Overview. Hovering over the icon shows the tooltip "Related to Another Point", and clicking it opens the point card with the Related Points section expanded.
Activity Feed
When a related point is added or removed, an entry is created in the activity feed of both the source and the linked point. Each activity entry shows:
The action performed (added or removed)
The title of the related point
The relationship type ("Relates To")
The timestamp and the user who made the change
If a point or site is later deleted, the details in the related activity entry are redacted. Activity entries for related points on sites you no longer have access to are also hidden.
Notifications
If you're subscribed to a point, you'll receive a notification when a related point is added to it. If you're subscribed to both the source and the linked point, you'll receive one notification — from the source point only.
Permissions
Related Points permissions are managed per user in Site Settings. This setting allows the user to 'Add the Relationship' between the different point cards. Everyone on the account will have visibility of the Related Points as long as they have access to the relevant Sites.
The default permissions are:
Site Admins — Related Points is on by default and cannot be turned off.
Normal users — Related Points is off by default. A Site Admin can enable it for individual Normal users to then be able to add the Relationship.
Guest users — Related Points is permanently off and cannot be enabled.
Exports
A Related Points checkbox has been added to the PDF exports, checked by default. When included, exported PDF reports will list any related points for each point, showing the point title, ID, account name, and site name.
This checkbox appears in:
PDF Detailed List exports (site and Overview)
Individual Point PDF reports (from the point card and from the Overview)
