Grid Trading Bot FAQ

This article answers frequently asked questions about the Spot Grid bot on Pionex, covering bot behavior, parameter edge cases, and common issues encountered during use.

Q: I enabled the reinvesting feature, but the bot's Investment Amount didn't increase. Where did the reinvested money go?

A: This is expected behavior. When the Spot Grid Bot reinvests grid profits, the reinvested amount is NOT added to the "Investment Amount" — it is reflected in the "Trend PnL" instead. The "Investment Amount" only increases when you manually add funds to the bot.

The reinvesting feature evaluates whether trigger conditions are met once every 24 hours. If not triggered yet, it means the accumulated grid profits have not yet reached the minimum amount required for the next grid buy order. The system will hold the profits temporarily and invest them automatically once the threshold is met.

To verify whether reinvesting has been executed:

- APP: Bot → Order Detail → Transactions → Balance Change History

Q: After closing the bot, the total amount returned is less than what "Grid Profit + Trend PnL" shows. Where did the reinvested amount go?

A: This is normal. After reinvesting is enabled, the profit formula is:

Current Profit = Grid Profit + Trend PnL - Reinvesting USDT

The reinvested amount is already included inside the Trend PnL figure, so it must be subtracted when calculating total profit to avoid double-counting. The amount returned when you stop the bot reflects this formula — nothing is lost.

Q: My goal for enabling reinvesting is to increase the quantity of coins I hold, but the coin quantity doesn't seem to increase. Is this correct?

A: Yes, this is how the reinvesting mechanism is designed. Reinvested grid profits are added to the Trend PnL to maintain the fund allocation balance within the Grid Trading Strategy — they are not used to directly purchase more coins at market price, so the coin quantity does not increase immediately.

The practical effect is that the bot has more capital to execute buy and sell cycles within the price range over time, which indirectly improves long-term profitability.

If your goal is to directly increase your coin holdings, consider manually adding funds using "Investment – Both" mode.

Q: Which bot supports BTC/USDT auto-reinvesting?

A: The Spot Grid Bot supports auto-reinvesting for BTC/USDT and most other trading pairs. Once enabled, the system automatically evaluates and reinvests grid profits every 24 hours — no manual action required.

Q: What is the difference between Trend PnL and Grid Profit? How are they calculated?

A: These are two separate components of the bot's total profit:

Grid Profit:

- Realized, confirmed profit earned each time the bot completes a "buy low and sell high" cycle

- Accumulates immediately upon completion of each grid level trade

- Already settled — returned when the bot is stopped

Trend PnL:

- Floating (unrealized) profit or loss based on current holdings

- Changes in real time with the market price

- Settled when the bot is stopped

When you stop the bot, both are included in the final settlement amount.

Note: If reinvesting is enabled, the formula is:

Total Profit = Grid Profit + Trend PnL - Reinvesting USDT

Q: My bot triggered the Taking Profit Price and closed, but the remaining coins are showing a loss. Why?

A: When the bot closes, the system records the market price at that moment as the cost basis for any coins returned to your Primary Account. For example, if the coins were returned when the price was 0.25 USDT, the system uses 0.25 as the cost. If the market price later falls below 0.25, a floating loss will be displayed.

This is a display notation only — it does not affect the actual profits you earned while the bot was running.

Q: Does the Spot Grid Bot have a Trailing Down feature?

A: No. The Spot Grid Bot currently only offers the "Trailing up" feature, which automatically moves the upper and lower limit prices of the grid upward when the market price rises. There is no Trailing Down feature — the grid will not automatically adjust downward if the market falls.

Q: Will modifying the price range or other parameters cause the bot to sell my current holdings?

A: Possibly. When you modify the price range, number of grids, or other parameters, the system rebalances the grid orders based on the new settings. If any of your current holdings fall outside the new price range, the system may sell that portion to realign the position.

Each time you confirm a parameter change, the interface will display a preview of the expected rebalancing behavior. Review this carefully before confirming.

Q: When adding funds to a running bot, can I add both coins and USDT at the same time?

A: No. The add funds feature only supports USDT.

Q: How do I set a Stop Loss Price and a Taking Profit Price? Will the bot close automatically?

A: Navigation path:

  • APP: Bot → Order Detail → Parameters → Stop Loss Price / Taking Profit Price

  • Website: Orders → Bot Orders → Running Orders → More → Stop Loss Price / Taking Profit Price

When triggered:

  • Stop Loss Price: The bot automatically closes and sells all positions locked by the Grid Trading Strategy when the market price drops to this level

  • Taking Profit Price: The bot automatically closes and sells all positions locked by the Grid Trading Strategy when the market price rises to this level

If neither is configured, the Grid Trading Strategy will continue running until you manually stop it.

Q: My bot has stopped trading — the grids are not moving at all. Why, and what should I do?

A: Common reasons and solutions:

1. Market price is outside the price range

  • If the price exceeds the upper limit price: all holdings have been sold; the bot will automatically resume buying when the price returns within range

  • If the price drops below the lower limit price: you are holding a full position; the bot will automatically resume selling when the price returns within range

Solution: Wait for the price to return within range, or stop the bot and reopen it with a wider price range

2. Too few grids (e.g., only 2 grids set)

  • A 2-grid bot operates similarly to "all-in buy, all-out sell" — after completing one cycle, it may temporarily have no position to work with

3. Bot is paused, not running

  • Check whether the bot status shows "Running" rather than "Paused"

Q: What is the minimum investment amount for the Spot Grid Bot? Can I start with 10 USDT?

A: There is no single fixed minimum. The system calculates the required minimum total investment in real time based on your chosen price range, number of grids, and trading pair. The minimum amount is displayed at the bottom of the page when you configure the parameters.

Q: I just started my bot. When will I see any grid profits?

A: Grid profits accumulate immediately each time the bot completes a "buy low and sell high" cycle — you do not need to wait for all grids to complete.

  • If the market is actively fluctuating within your price range, grid profits will accumulate steadily

  • If the market is flat or has moved outside your price range, the bot will temporarily stop trading, and no grid profits will be generated

  • Trend PnL (floating profit/loss) updates in real time with the market price

The more frequently and significantly the market fluctuates, the faster grid profits accumulate.

Q: I withdrew profit from my bot. Where does the money go?

A: Withdrawn profits are transferred directly to your Primary Account. You can view them on the "Spot Assets" page.

Q: After closing the Spot Grid Bot, where do my assets go? Can I keep the coins instead of converting to USDT?

A: When you stop the bot, the system will prompt you to choose your preferred settlement method:

  • Return Coin Holdings + USDT: The held coins are returned directly to your Primary Account without conversion

  • Return USDT: All holdings are sold at the current market price and returned as USDT

All assets (principal + grid profits + Trend PnL, minus any reinvested USDT) are returned to your Primary Account. You can verify the returned amount under [My Account].

Q: How are fees charged for the Spot Grid Bot? Are there any additional bot fees?

A: There are no additional fees for using the bot. The Spot Grid Bot charges the standard spot trading fee for each individual trade executed:

  • On each buy order: one fee charged

  • On each sell order: one fee charged

  • One complete "buy low and sell high" cycle of the Grid Trading Strategy = two fee charges total

Standard fee rate: 0.05% per trade (both Maker and Taker at the standard VIP level)

Fee amount = Trade Amount × 0.05%

Since each grid executes at a different price, the trade amount varies slightly, so the fee amount differs each time. The rate itself is fixed.

Q: How do I find a stopped bot and reuse its settings?

A: To find and reuse a stopped bot:

  • APP: Bot → Historical Orders → tap the bot → "Re-create"

  • Website: Orders → Bot Orders → Historical Orders → find the bot → "Re-create"

Q: How do I view the Balance Change History?

A: To view the Balance Change History (including reinvesting records):

  • APP: Bot → tap the bot → Order Detail → Transactions → Balance Change History

  • Website: Orders → Bot Orders → Running Orders → tap the bot → Transactions → Balance Change History

Note: If a bot has "disappeared," it is almost certainly in Historical Orders — bots are never deleted automatically by the system. Check whether it was stopped by a triggered Stop Loss Price or Taking Profit Price.

Q: What is the difference between Pause and Stop?

A:

Pause:

  • The bot stops placing new buy and sell orders, but all current holdings and open orders remain unchanged

  • Assets are NOT settled

  • The bot can be resumed and will continue from where it left off

Stop:

  • The bot is fully stopped, and all holdings are settled

  • You can choose to return coins or convert to USDT

  • Assets are returned to your Primary Account

  • The bot cannot be resumed — you must create a new one

Q: If I modify the price range of a running bot that has a floating loss, will the loss be realized (locked in)? How much will I lose?

A: When you modify the price range of a running bot, the system rebalances all grid orders based on the new settings. If any of your current holdings fall outside the new price range, the system may sell that portion at the current market price, which would realize (lock in) part of your floating loss.

The exact amount that will be realized cannot be calculated in advance, as it depends on:

  • The current market price at the time you confirm the change

  • How much of your position falls outside the new price range

Q: When modifying the price range, will the realized grid profits be used to reset the bot?

A: When you confirm the parameter change, the system will display a rebalancing preview. Realized grid profits (already settled amounts) will be included in the total available capital for rebalancing. If the Trend PnL is negative, part of the floating loss may be realized in the process. The exact behavior depends on your new settings and the current market price at the time of confirmation.

Q: I set 25 grids, but the Open Orders page only shows 24 orders. Is one grid missing?

A: No, nothing is missing. Here is how the count works:

    N grids → N+1 price levels → N active open orders

For 25 grids: the system creates 26 price levels, but one level (near the current market price) is used for the initial position entry. This leaves 25 active limit orders displayed. The grid count is correct.

In general, the number of open orders always equals the number of grids you set.

Q: Can I sell part of my holdings while the Spot Grid Bot is still running?

A: The Spot Grid Bot does not currently support partial position selling (manually reducing holdings) while the bot is running.

If you need to sell part of your coins, your current options are:

1. Stop the bot → select "Return Coin Holdings + USDT" → coins are returned to your Primary Account → manually sell the desired portion

2. Adjust the price range so that part of your holding falls outside the new range — the system will sell that portion during rebalancing

3. Wait for the bot to naturally execute a sell order at a higher grid level during normal operation

Q: I hold coins (e.g., BTC, SOL) and want to use them to run a Spot Grid Bot. Do I need to convert them to USDT first?

A: Not necessarily. When creating a Spot Grid Bot, you can select "Investment – Both" mode to invest using both your existing coins and USDT simultaneously. For example, when selecting the BTC/USDT trading pair, you can invest with both BTC + USDT.

Q: Why am I unable to create more Spot Grid Bots after already running many of them?

A: There are currently limits on the number of Spot Grid Bots that can be running simultaneously, as follows:

Based on actual investment amount:

  • Up to 100 bots can be created without additional restrictions.

  • Once you exceed 100 bots, starting from the 101st bot, each new bot must have an investment amount greater than 1,000 USDT.

Based on trading pairs:

  • Each trading pair is limited to a maximum of 30 bots.

If you would like to increase your exposure to a particular trading pair, we recommend adding more investment to your existing bot(s) instead of creating additional ones.
