How to archive and/or restore templates in the Elements app
Creating templates in the Elements app takes considerable time when numerous fields, conditional layers, and advanced formatting and design elements are used. The ability to archive and restore templates provides users with access to prior templates if the need arises.
Users with Admin or Elements designer permissions can archive and/or restore templates.
Archive a template:
1. | Open the Elements app from the apps side panel (or apps home screen if you’re a non-admin user) |
2. | Click Manage templates |
3. | From the Manage templates window, open the template you want to archive |
4. | Click on the trash can icon |
5. | From the pop-up screen, click OK |
Restore an archived template:
1. | In the Manage Templates window, click the More options icon denoted by … |
2. | Click Show deleted templates |
3. | Click the vertical three-dot icon to the right of the template name |
4. | Click Restore Template |
5. | From the pop-up screen, select OK |
6. | Once your template is restored, click Go back to active templates |
Please note: If you encounter the error message "A template with that name already exists" while trying to save a new template, verify that a deleted template does not have an identical name. Regardless of active or archived status, templates cannot share the same name.
If there is no need to access a template in the future, reference our article on how to permanently delete a template.
