Are you tired of wading through a sea of online chats, Facebook groups, and search results looking for an editor? We've put together a simple guide to help you find your next editor fast. Use our batch testing process below to find your next editor(s) on Pixlmob.

Process

  1. Select 5-10 editors you’d like to test on Pixlmob. We recommend choosing at least 1 editor from each price range listed in the comparison chart above.

  2. Select a file of raw photos from an old shoot, duplicate it, and rename it to “Batch Test.” Next, cull the photos down to 1 photo per category listed below to reduce your test costs:

    1. Front exterior

    2. Backyard

    3. Kitchen

    4. Living

    5. A Bedroom + Bath

    6. An Aerial / Drone shot (if applicable)

  3. Create a new Project in Pixlmob for your Batch Test and add each service/editor you want to test.

Note: You'll need to create unique folders for each editor. For example, you could create a folder called "Test - [editor name]" and add a copy of your "Batch Test" raw file folder and an Outputs folder to it. If you're using Dropbox, make sure you create a "File request" that links to your Outputs folder and share the File Request link in the "Link for deliverable files upload" field for the editor.

Ranking

When you receive the edited photos back, rank each photo on a scale from 1-4:

  1. Excellent — I'm very happy with these edits.

  2. Good — They're not perfect, but they check all the key boxes for me.

  3. Average — I can work with these edits, though they're not my favorite.

  4. Poor — I couldn't share these photos with an agent.

For any editors you gave a #1 or #2 ranking, go ahead and submit a full shoot for them to edit. Review the finished files and select your favorite editors.

Bonus

You can use Pixlmob’s Vendor Team feature to save your favorite editors for different services. This helps you quickly find the editors you've already vetted.
