How do I upgrade my tier?

Overview

You can upgrade your tier at any time from the Tiers tab in the app. Upgrading to Core or Platinum unlocks higher cashback rates, lower fees, better perks, and more. Your new tier is active immediately once your upgrade is confirmed.

During the promotional period, Core is free for the first 7 days from launch and Platinum requires locking 100,000 XPL instead of 150,000 XPL.

How to know when you are ready to upgrade

On the Tiers tab, you will see a progress bar showing how much XPL you need to reach the next tier. There are a few ways to get there:

  • Earn XPL through cashback: as you spend on your Plasma One card, you earn XPL that counts toward your progress

  • Buy XPL in the app: you can buy XPL directly using your USD cash balance

  • Deposit XPL from an external wallet: you can transfer XPL into your Plasma One account from an external wallet

  • Pay a USD subscription (Core only): if you prefer not to lock XPL, you can upgrade to Core by paying $199 per year

When you have enough XPL in your account to upgrade via lock, the progress bar will show an Upgrade button.

Upgrading to Core

There are two ways to upgrade to Core:

Option 1: Lock 20,000 XPL for 12 months

  1. Go to the Tiers tab

  2. Tap on the progress bar

  3. Upgrade to Core

  4. Select the XPL lock option

  5. Confirm the 12-month lock

Your XPL is locked immediately and your Core tier is active straight away. Your locked XPL cannot be unlocked early.

If you do not have enough XPL to lock, you will be taken to the Buy XPL flow to top up first.

Option 2: Pay $199 per year

  1. Go to the Tiers tab

  2. Tap Upgrade on the progress bar when it appears

  3. Select the annual subscription option

  4. Confirm payment from your USD cash balance

Your Core tier is active immediately. If you do not have enough in your USD cash balance, you will be prompted to deposit funds first.

Upgrading to Platinum

Platinum can only be unlocked by locking XPL. There is no USD subscription option for Platinum.

Locking XPL for Platinum

  1. Go to the Tiers tab

  2. Tap on the progress bar

  3. Upgrade to Platinum

  4. Confirm the 12-month lock

During the promotional period, you need to lock 100,000 XPL. After the promotion ends, this increases to 150,000 XPL. Your Platinum tier is active immediately.

If you do not have enough XPL to lock, you will be taken to the Buy XPL flow to top up first.

Upgrading from Core to Platinum mid-lock

If you are already on Core with XPL locked and want to upgrade to Platinum, you do not need to start from scratch. You only need to lock the remaining XPL needed to reach the Platinum threshold.

For example, if you locked 10,000 XPL for Core and want to upgrade to Platinum during the promotional period (100,000 XPL), you lock the remaining 90,000 XPL. All 100,000 XPL is then locked for a fresh 12 months from the date of your Platinum upgrade.

Upgrading from a Core subscription to Platinum

If you are currently on a Core USD subscription and want to upgrade to Platinum, you can do so by locking the required XPL from the Tiers tab. Once your Platinum upgrade is confirmed, your Core subscription is replaced by your Platinum tier and you move up immediately.

What happens to my tier after 12 months?

Your tier remains active for as long as your lock or subscription is valid. At the end of your 12-month period, if you do not renew, your account moves back to Lite automatically.
