About floor plans

Updated this week

Overview

Floor plan in Platter helps you recreate your restaurant's layout. This means you can arrange tables on the screen just like they are in real life. Floor plans are essential for restaurants that use table service because staff use them to seat customers, take orders from the correct table, and handle billing.

From the Back Office, you can add, edit, and organise your floor plan. You can also set how many seats each table has, which helps when splitting the bill in the POS.

Prerequisites

Before setting up your floor plan in Platter, ensure the following:

  • Credential of Platter Back Office.

  • You know your restaurant’s actual table layout, including table names/numbers.

  • You have details for each table, such as the number of seats required.

  • Your POS devices are properly synced with the Platter Back Office.

Steps

Create or Edit a Floor Plan

  1. Log in to the Platter Back Office.

  2. Navigate to Floor Plan from the main menu.

  3. Click Add Floor Plan or select an existing floor plan to edit.

  4. Add tables to the layout and position them according to your restaurant’s actual layout.

  5. Assign a table name/number to each table.

  6. Set the number of seats for each table.

  7. Resize or rearrange tables as needed to match the dining area.

  8. Click Save once the layout is complete.

Sync to POS

  • Allow a few minutes for the floor plan to sync automatically.

  • Open the POS to confirm the updated layout is visible.

Troubleshooting

Tables not showing on the POS:

  • Make sure the floor plan is saved in the Back Office and allow a few minutes for the POS to sync.

Changes not reflecting on POS:

  • Check your internet connection and refresh the POS app to sync the latest updates.
