Some of the language on the Stripe Connect process can be a bit confusing - they refer to all organisations as companies/businesses (including charities).

You can follow the advice below to help clarify any confusing. If in doubt, or if there isn't a direct match for your answer, just choose the option that feels closest. If you don't have a specific document, upload something else that best represents you. If there is an issue with this, Stripe will contact you directly to help you get set up.

If you already use Stripe, you can connect your existing account.

*Please note: plinth will take a booking fee for any paid bookings taken online. See our page here for more information: https://www.plinth.org.uk/payment-processing-fees

It shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Step by step guide:

Get paid by plinth

You'll need to add a phone number and verify with a code Stripe texts you

Tell us about your business

If you're a charity, you should select Non-profit. If not, you should choose either Business (if you're registered at Companies House) or Individual otherwise.

Business Details

You'll need to add your organisation's key information.

As charities in the UK do not register with Companies House (like they do in the US), enter your charity number instead of the CRN.

Do not click on the links to Companies House as you do not need to apply for one.

Business Representative

This is someone who has the authority to set up a Stripe account, adding in the Bank Details.

Business Owner

This is probably not applicable (this section is designed for companies with shareholders). You can probably just skip.

Businesses Directors

For most organisations these are your Trustees.

We recommend you start by adding the details of two trustees and Stripe will follow up with you if they require any more info.

Businesses Executive

This is someone who works for the organisation but who is not a Trustee.

Let’s review your details

At this point, you can go back and edit anything that needs changing and can confirm your details.
