Surveys and how to send them out

How surveys work to measure impact and how to get members to fill them out.

Surveys are a great way to measure impact and outcomes, but they can often be hard to analyse and link up to individual members information. With plinth you can do that easily.

How to create a survey

To create a survey click on "Surveys/Outcomes" on the menu on the left hand side of your screen.

If you click on that, there is the option to create a new survey in the top right corner:

Here you can use the AI tool to generate a form with suggested fields based on the form description, or you can create this manually:

This will open up a survey builder. This works in the same way as a normal form builder, such as Google forms or Microsoft forms. The options on the right are the type of questions you would like to add and you can drag and drop them into position in the survey.

Here, there is the option to create separate form sections if you wish to divide your questions into sections, such as 'Personal details' and 'general information':

Once you are finished, you can click "Preview" and see what your form will look like. Then you can press "Create this form" in the top right and add a name to the Survey.

Then you are done!

Sharing and completing surveys

You now need people to complete these surveys. There are two ways of doing this.

From a member's profile

The first way is directly from a member's profile. Once on a member's profile, if you click the more button next to their name, you can fill out a survey:

This will open up the survey in a new tab. Here you can either fill out the survey directly, or get a link that you can send out to the person, that they can use to complete the survey in their own time. They do not need to be logged in to fill out the survey using this link and it will be added to their profile using it.

Through a tag

The second way to fill out a survey is through a tag. If you go to a particular tag's page and then click on "Surveys".

You will be given the option to add a survey to that tag. Once you have selected the survey, make sure you scroll down and select "Use this survey"

Once you have done this, you have the option to send the survey to everyone on that tag:

And to analyse and export the information from the surveys.

Analysing and viewing results

You can also analyse results by clicking on "Surveys/Outcomes" on the left-hand side, selecting your survey and then choosing "View Responses":

Once you have done that you will be able to see the results as a spreadsheet view or graphs of your multiple choice questions. Here you can also export your results to Excel.
