Text & Screen Reader Tutorial:
If you're trying to load preflop game trees, train your preflop game, or study preflop ranges, this is the area of PLO Trainer you want to be using.
Preflop mode is selected when you first load the PLO Trainer by default. This is how you can navigate all of the preflop game trees that are available. After you have clicked this icon, you can use the two dropdown fields located just to the right. The first dropdown has all of the different rake structures and the second dropdown has the different stack sizes. Please note not all stack sizes are available for all rake structures. By default, 6-Max GGPoker PLO50-200 (100bb) is selected.
1.1 - Initial View
It might seem a little intimidating and confusing at first, but it's really quite simple! Here we can see a 6-max setting with the rake structure we already chose. The position for each player as well as their stack size is displayed at each seat. The action is on the player that is highlighted in green. The size of the pot is also displayed in the middle of the table.
1.2 - Viewing the Complete Range & How to View Individual Hands
By clicking the "Show"/eye icon, you can view the entire range of hands for the current player.
It looks like there's a lot going on here with different areas to click, checkboxes, and a range input so for this beginner tutorial we're going to keep it simple.
The default view here is the entire range of hands - folds are on the left, and hands that are raising for pot are on the right, sorted by EV or Expected Value. If you'd like to look for a specific hand, you can use the filter at the bottom of the chart. The "i" icon beside the filter field will open a modal with useful syntaxes to help filter the hands for you.
If it's a bit confusing looking through a big list of hands, you can also use the categories view located at the top of the chart next to the Range view.
The categories view will give you an overview for specific hand classes or buckets, labeled on the left hand side. You can click the arrows to drill deeper into a category to get a better understanding of what our range will look like with these types of hands. You'll notice there are checkboxes located to the far right beside each category - if you click this checkbox and then click the filter icon, it will show you that specific range in the range view.
This is what the filter icon looks like, and is located above the checkboxes.
When you're first using PLO Trainer and getting used to navigating around the game trees and looking into hands, these will be the areas you use the most.
1.3 - Training the Current Range
By clicking the Train icon when a range is selected, the training will start!
Once you click the Train icon, the training window will load. You'll see one individual hand loaded with the actions located below. i.e. If you're raising first in, you'll only see Fold or Pot.
After each hand, a new hand will load and your results for the previous action will display on the right hand side. You can train as many hands as you'd like, and once you're satisfied with the current training session you can load a new spot or retry the hands you got wrong by clicking "Retry mistakes" located at the bottom left of the results tab.
Inside the right hand chart you'll notice that the Results tab is active, but you can also click on Range or Categories to dive deeper into a hand or hand class that is giving you trouble.
By clicking the Esc icon located beside the Fold button, you can quit.
1.4 - Navigating the Preflop Game Tree
By using the action buttons located under the poker table you can simulate the actions of the hand and change which position you are in. For example, if the current action is on EP and you click FOLD, it will move to the MP position and so on.
The buttons can be used to navigate to the position you are trying to view hands for or train.
