[User] Starting a charging session as a guest user

Guest Checkout allows EV owners to activate a Plugzio device without creating an account. Follow the steps below to start a charging session quickly and securely.

1. Open Plugzio

You can access Plugzio on any of the following:

Select Continue as Guest on the home screen.

  • You will be prompted to accept Plugzio’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.
    Tap the highlighted text to view the full documents before accepting.

2. Choose How to Activate the Device

After accepting the terms, you can activate a Plugzio device in one of two ways:

  • Scan the QR Code — Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code located on the front of the device.

  • Enter the Device ID — Type the 5‑character alphanumeric Device ID printed below the QR code (e.g., 5JB98).

Once the device is identified, Plugzio will display the pricing details for that outlet.

3. Review the Pricing Page

Each Plugzio device is configured by the outlet manager and may include one or more of the following billing categories:

  • Currency — The currency used for all fees.

  • Activation Fee — A one‑time fee charged when the session begins.

  • Duration Rate — The hourly rate for occupying the outlet.

  • Consumption Rate — The cost per kilowatt‑hour (kWh) of energy consumed.

  • Free Use — Some devices may be set to free usage with no fees.

Review the pricing carefully, then tap Confirm to proceed to payment.

4. Complete Payment

Guest Checkout supports the most common payment methods:

  • PayPal

  • Debit or Credit Card

When using Guest Checkout, Plugzio will pre‑authorize up to $100 on your payment method. This temporary hold allows the system to start your charging session immediately and ensures enough balance is available to cover the session.

How the $100 Hold Works

  • The system pre‑authorizes up to $100 before the session begins.

  • You can charge your vehicle up to the value of the authorized amount.

  • When the session ends, Plugzio calculates the actual cost based on the pricing seen on the previous screen.

  • Only the final session amount is billed.

  • Any remaining balance from the $100 hold is automatically released within 72 hours.

    • This includes cases where the session ends abruptly or the device goes offline.

After reviewing the payment details, select your preferred payment method and follow the on‑screen steps. Once payment is successfully authorized, your charging session will begin automatically.

5. Session Active

After activation:

  • The device will begin supplying power.

  • You will see a confirmation screen showing the session status.

  • You can return to the same browser/app window to monitor or stop the session.

6. Ending the Session

You can end your charging session in either of the following ways:

  • Tap the End Session button in the Plugzio app or browser window.

  • Unplug your vehicle from the outlet.

Once the session ends, a session summary will appear showing your usage and final cost.

This summary screen also allows you to send an e‑receipt to your email.


Sending yourself an e‑receipt is strongly recommended in case you need support or have questions about the session.
