If you are installing cellular-enabled chargers, please make sure to test the cellular signal strength before purchasing and installing the units. Below is our cellular testing reference table for your use.
Note: We recommend that electricians use dedicated signal testing equipment whenever possible. However, if a testing device is not available, signal strength can also be tested using a mobile phone.
For iPhone
First, ensure the phone is set to LTE (not 5G):
Open Settings
Tap Cellular
Under the SIMs section, select the SIM card you would like to test
Tap Voice & Data
Select LTE
Then, access Field Test Mode:
Open the Phone app
Dial *3001#12345#*
Press Call
Record the following values: SINR, RSRP, and RSRQ (RSSI, if applicable)
For Android
Please install the following app:
Once installed:
Grant all requested permissions
Select the LTE band
Tap Graphs
Record the following values: RSSI, SINR/SNR, RSRP, and RSRQ
Note: If LTE connection information does not appear in NetMonster, you may need to force your Android device to LTE:
Open Settings and navigate to Network & Internet (or Connections / Mobile Network, depending on your device)
Tap SIMs or Mobile Network
Find Preferred Network Type
Select LTE Only (or 4G/3G/2G Auto if you only want to disable 5G)
Once you have screenshots of the readings, feel free to send them to help@plugzio.com, and we’ll be happy to help confirm whether the location is suitable for reliable cellular connectivity.
