Your charging cable will be locked to your vehicle preventing theft; there are other ways to have a piece of mind while leaving your charger

In our few years of operation we haven't heard of any cable theft but if you want to fill extra safe, here are 5 different methods you can feel safe about your charging cable attached to a Plugzio device:

1 - Vehicle Auto Lock

Electric vehicles will automatically lock the charging cable in when the vehicle doors are locked. This would make it extremely difficult for someone to take your charger.

2- Lockable covers

Plugzio is designed like a standard outlet so you have the option to purchase a lockable cover from your local hardware store (about $15) and install it on top of the Plugzio unit. This allows you to lock your cable in so not only no one can take it from the vehicle (method #1) but also no one can unplug the cable from the Plugzio unit.

Here are some products that fit well with Plugzio:

3- Plugzio Notifications

You will receive a notification on your mobile phone as soon as you get unplugged from the device. This will give you a piece of mind that you will always be alerted if the charging gets interrupted for whatever reason (e.g. your EV becomes fully charged).

4- Plugzio Universal

Plugzio universal can be installed in-line with a charger, so there would no easy way to take the charger away. If you want to have a cable securely attached to your Plugzio unit, using Plugzio Universal may be the best way to go.

5- Improvisation

Throughout the years we have witnessed some creative ways people secure their chargers, here are some of them:

  • Drive over your charging cable.

  • Put your charger controller (the big adapter) inside the vehicle and roll your window up on the cable.

  • Put your charger controller in the trunk (or frunk) and close it.

  • Lock the charging cable to the conduit on the wall.

We generally don't recommend improvisation specially when there is 4 rather better ways to secure your charger if need be.
