All Plugzio Universal Plus (Level 1&2), Plugzio Cando (Level 2), and Plugzio Integrated (Level 1) devices support dynamic load.
What is load balancing?
Load balancing operates by controlling how much power each station can use when multiple EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) units are connected to the same circuit. The chargers will automatically follow the preset protocol to balance electricity usage among each EVSE. This prevents overcapacity by limiting and distributing the available electrical capacity across all charging ports on the same breaker system. This makes it an important smart charging feature for anyone operating multiple charging ports at a location with limited power capacity.
Do Plugzio Level 1 & Level 2 Devices Support Load Balancing?
Plugzio Cando, utilizing a J1772 port—the standard for electric vehicle (EV) charging plugs—features a communication pin that facilitates interaction between the charger and the vehicle for dynamic power load balancing. This function allows the charger to reduce the current and adjust the power intake as needed, ensuring efficient power distribution, especially when multiple chargers share the same electrical circuit.
Plugzio has also pioneered a solution enabling dynamic load and time balancing for cordless devices (Plugzio Universal+ and Integrated), marking a significant advancement in this technology area. Plugzio's dynamic power balancing is capable of sharing power between both Level 2 and Level 1 devices.
Through our software, these devices can communicate with one another to dynamically balance their power usage, ensuring that the total power output remains within the circuit's maximum capacity.
