Initial Requirements

In this article, we assume that you have already created a management account and registered your Plugzio device(s). If not, please follow the Sign Up For An Account & Register Your First Device guide.

Load Balancing Plugzio Level 1 & Level 2 Devices:

  1. Start:

    • Once you’ve logged in, navigate to the “Device Management” section.

    • Click on the “Load Balancing” option to access the load balancing page.

  2. Create a Group:

    • On the right side of the dashboard, click on “Create Group”.

  3. Group Configuration:

    • In the upper field, enter a name for your load balancing group.

    • In the lower field, input the amperage of your shared breaker (this is the breaker connected to the devices you are grouping).

    • Once you’ve filled in the required fields, click “Next”.

  4. Select Devices:

    • On this page, select the devices you wish to add to the group.

    • You can sort the devices using the options at the top right if you have trouble finding a specific device.

    • After selecting the devices, click “Next”.

Note: If a device is greyed out, it means it’s already part of another load balancing group. To add it to your current group, you’ll need to remove it from the other group first.

  5. Load Balancing Values:

    • For Level 1 devices, the load balancing values on this page are pre-configured by the software and cannot be changed. Simply click “Next”.

    • For Level 2 devices, For Level 2 devices, you will need to set the following parameters:

      * The “Minimum,” “Maximum,” and “Always on” current for each device on the circuit.

      * The Minimum current is device-specific.

      * The Maximum current is determined by the lower value of the breaker amperage or the device’s rated maximum current.

      * Current ratio – the additional current to allocate to a device when it is in session.

With the above information, Plugzio software can perform the following tasks:

      * Determine if the circuit has enough current capacity for a specific device to turn on.

      * If the device does not have sufficient amperage capacity to turn on, a charging session will not be allowed to start.

      * Limit the operation of devices to stay within the maximum and minimum currents.

    • Once you have set the parameters, click on “Next.”

Note that a device is considered to be drawing power if it is in session or in “Always on" mode.

  6. Summary and Confirmation:

    • Review the summary of your load balancing configuration.

    • If everything is correct, click “Confirm” to finalize the setup.
