Plugzio cellular modem is designed for installations that don't have existing WiFi available at the installation site.

If WiFi is available in the communication room at the property, we recommend installing a WiFi extender to bring WiFi connectivity to the installation site:

We use an Outdoor Router for our modems, here is what's included in the box:

  • Two 4G antennas for cellular connectivity - Installed at the top

  • Two 2.4G antennas for WiFi - Installed at the bottom (where the Ethernet wire exists)

  • The outdoor-rated Modem

  • Mounting Kit

  • 32-foot (10-meter) outdoor Ethernet wire

  • PoE injector to power the device

  • Quick installation guide

Note: You can use any Cat5e/Cat6 cable to connect to the POE injector.

Installation steps

Step 1/4:

Install the modem at a central location close to all Plugzio devices installed.

Plugzio WiFi devices must be installed within line-of-sight (or max 400 foot - 150m) from the modem.

! Make sure that the location where the modem is to be installed has optimal cellular connectivity. It is advisable to use your mobile phone to verify if the signal strength is at least 2 bars. If there are any areas with poor reception, you may consider purchasing an external antenna to improve coverage.

Step 2/4:

Connect the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the modem.

If you intend to install the modem in an outdoor setting, it is imperative that you carefully adhere to the instructions provided in the guide. This will ensure that the device is completely sealed and protected from external elements. The accompanying rubber material is intended to seal the lid and cable and should be utilized accordingly.

Step 3/4:

Run the Ethernet cable to a location with a 120V outlet to power the modem using the POE injector.

You do not have to bring 120V outlet close to the installation site to power the modem. The Ethernet cable can power the device using the POE injector.

The ethernet connection should look something like this:

Step 4/4:

Close the modem lid, connect the antennas, and check your phone to ensure Plugzio WiFi shows up as an option to connect.
