FAQs on building an affiliate program using Podia
For how long do affiliate links track a purchase?
By default, an affiliate attribution window is set to 15 days, but you can easily change it if you want to shorten or extend this period.
Customers must make a purchase within the attribution window so a sale is credited to the respective affiliate.
Are self-referrals possible?
No. Affiliates cannot self-refer when buying your products.
If an affiliate promotes my product and then another affiliate also promotes it, and a prospect clicks both links. Who gets the credit?
We use first-touch attribution within a 15-day window.
This means the sale is credited to the affiliate whose link the customer first clicked on.
Do upsell purchases count toward an affiliate's referral?
No. Only the original sale made through the checkout will be attributed to the affiliate.
How do payments work for recurring subscriptions (like Community and Payment Plans)?
As is standard practice in the industry, your affiliates get credit for every payment their referred customer makes.
For example, if a referred member signs up for a $10/month plan and you have your affiliate commission to 30%, your referring affiliate will earn $3 for the first payment, and $3 a month for every subsequent month that the member remains subscribed.
Or if a referred course customer purchases a payment plan with 3 payments of $99, your affiliate will earn $33 each time the customer's payment is processed.
Can my affiliates attach a coupon to their links?
Yes, you can easily combine coupon codes with affiliate links.
Coupon codes you make aren’t automatically shared with affiliates, so you need to let them know about any promotions you’re running and explain how they can use these coupons with their affiliate links.

Will the affiliate program work with an embedded checkout?
No. Podia's checkout features only works with sales processed using the Podia checkout.
Can I email my affiliates?
Yes, you can easily send an email broadcast to your affiliates.
Make sure to use all available email filters to correctly select your affiliates list.
