You can upload and host your videos directly on Podia, transforming them into video players that your customers can stream and use to watch your content.

Uploading a video to your course

Adding videos to your courses is easy! Follow the steps below.

  1. When editing an online course, click on New lesson > Add file and select your video from your computer.

    1. This can be done from the menu at the top of the course or directly from a section within your course.

    2. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop the video file directly from your computer into your course on Podia.

  2. After uploading the file, click on the file name to rename and build the rest of the lesson!

On that page, you can add a custom thumbnail, upload captions, and insert additional text, images, or downloadable files into the lesson content.

You'll also get to control whether you want to allow customers to download the video lesson you uploaded or not.

File Specifications

If you're looking to upload videos directly to Podia, we recommend you use the following settings:

  • MP4 file format

  • AAC audio codec

  • H264 video codec (progressive scan - no interlacing; high profile)

  • 30 or below frames per second

  • Individual file size up to 1GB (although Podia supports up to 5GB for individual files)

  • Video resolution: 1280x720 (HD) or 1920x1080 (FULL HD)

  • Up to 4 hours of duration

You can reduce file size without compromising its quality by compressing your videos. We suggest using a free and easy compression tool like Handbrake.

You can find a tutorial of how to use Handbrake here! 📚
