The Polar MCP (Model Connection Protocol) is your bridge between Polar Analytics and AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude. It allows these tools to connect directly to your Polar workspace, so you can query your ecommerce and marketing data conversationally — without needing SQL or dashboards.

This guide explains how to:

  • Install and validate the Polar MCP connection

  • Connect key integrations (Shopify, Meta, Google Ads) through MCP

  • Troubleshoot common setup issues

Understanding the Polar MCP

The Model Connection Protocol (MCP) enables a secure, read-only connection between Polar and your AI tools.
Once installed, it allows AI to access data from your Polar workspace for natural language queries such as:

  • “What was my ROAS last month on Meta?”

  • “Compare CAC across channels for Q3.”

  • “Show top-performing SKUs by profit margin.”

The MCP ensures:

  • Data security: Only authenticated queries from your workspace are permitted.

  • Accuracy: AI pulls data directly from Polar’s semantic layer, not third-party estimates.

  • Speed: Uses your existing Polar data warehouse for near-instant responses.

Installing the MCP

Follow these steps to connect your Polar workspace to the MCP:

Step 1. Validate the installation on Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.

  2. When prompted, approve the Polar MCP installation request.

  3. Click Install to grant Polar read-only API permissions.

    • These permissions allow Polar to sync your store’s marketing, order, and product data.

Step 2. Connect Polar MCP to your account

  1. Select Connect to Polar to initialize the setup.

  2. Choose which integrations to connect first — typically:

    • Shopify (primary data source)

    • Meta (Facebook Ads)

    • Google Ads

    • Additional platforms like TikTok Ads or Klaviyo can be added later.

Step 3. Verify your connections

Once integrations are connected, your MCP dashboard will display each as “Active.”
To confirm successful setup:

  • Go to your Polar WorkspaceConnectors tab.

  • Check that all MCP-connected integrations show a green “Connected” status.

  • Within 24 hours, Polar will begin syncing historical and live data.

Troubleshooting and Best Practices

Common installation issues

  • Shopify authorization fails:
Ensure the user performing the installation has Admin rights in Shopify.

  • No data appearing:
Check that integrations are enabled inside Polar’s Connectors tab and that your workspace sync completed.

  • MCP not responding in AI tools:
Make sure the Polar MCP endpoint is entered correctly:

    https://api.polaranalytics.com/mcp

and that you’re logged into the same workspace connected to MCP.

Best practices

  • Install the MCP under a permanent, shared admin account to avoid permission issues.

  • Regularly verify integrations via the Connectors tab to ensure tokens haven’t expired.

  • When using AI tools (ChatGPT or Claude), keep your workspace consistent — the MCP responds using the currently active workspace.

The Polar MCP provides a seamless bridge between your ecommerce data and AI-driven analysis.
Once installed, you can query your Polar data naturally using ChatGPT or Claude, without touching SQL or dashboards.

Key takeaways:

  • Validate the installation in Shopify

  • Connect key integrations via Polar MCP

  • Confirm data syncing within Polar
