After enrolling your students into the group titled: All Students, you can create additional groups. This allows you to group students by spelling needs. Then, assign each group games and tests using the lists that best meet their needs.
Note: First enter all of your students into the group automatically titled All Students
Creating Additional Groups
Click on the Add Group button from the left menu.
Add a name for the group.
Click on the Next button.
Enter Details for the group. This example shows that the group named Yellow Group is a 5th Grade group of students that have spelling lists that include challenging and above grade level words. Students do NOT see these groups or details.
Click on the Enroll Students button.
The right panel will display All Students. To place desired students into this group, click the green Enroll button to the right of the students’ names.
To remove a student from the group, click the red Remove button to the right of the students name.
Teachers can make as many groups as needed. Easily add or remove students from a group.
Remember: When giving an assignment to All Students, each student will have the same word list for the activity. Using Groups makes differentiated spelling instruction easy. Assigning games and tests to groups allows each group to have their own version of the list.
Differentiated Assignments
Once groups have been created, when assigning games and tests, choose lists that best meet the needs of each group.
For example, the Yellow Group students are working above grade level and may be assigned a game that includes thirty spelling words.
While the Blue Group students are working on grade level and may be assigned a game using a spelling list that includes twenty spelling words.
Note: You can Add and Remove students from the groups at any time.
Students only have one login. Creating groups does not change a students username or password. Students will see their assignments when they login to their account.
