PredictaMail's Smart Sending feature helps you avoid over-emailing your subscribers by setting a time window that prevents multiple messages from being sent too close together. However, transactional emails are treated differently—and for good reason.

This article explains what transactional emails are, why they should typically bypass Smart Sending, and how to manage these settings in PredictaMail.

What Are Transactional Emails?

Transactional emails are messages triggered by a user’s direct action, such as:

  • Order confirmations

  • Shipping updates

  • Password resets

  • Account-related notifications

These emails are expected and often searched for by recipients. They are not marketing emails and should never be delayed by Smart Sending rules.

What is Smart Sending?

Smart Sending limits how frequently subscribers receive emails from your brand. If a profile has already received an email within the set time window, any non-transactional emails will be skipped.

  • Default Smart Sending Window: 10 hours

  • You can customize this window in your settings.

How to Update Smart Sending Settings

To change the Smart Sending period or configure transactional email behavior:

  1. In your PredictaMail dashboard, go to the sidebar and click Settings

  2. Navigate to Email > Sender Preferences

  3. Adjust the number of hours under Smart Sending Period

  4. To ensure transactional emails are always delivered, check the box labeled: "Ignore Smart Sending for transactional messages"

🔒 We strongly recommend keeping this option checked for transactional emails to ensure timely delivery.

Disabling Smart Sending for a Specific Campaign

While Smart Sending is turned on by default for all campaigns, you can disable it for specific campaigns if needed.

To do this:

  1. In Step 1 of creating a campaign, locate the option:

  2. “Email: Skip profiles who recently received an email”

  3. Toggle this OFF to disable Smart Sending for that campaign

💡 We recommend keeping Smart Sending ON for most marketing emails to prevent list fatigue.

Best Practices for Transactional Emails

  • Keep them free of promotional content to comply with email deliverability and compliance standards

  • Always allow these emails to bypass Smart Sending

  • Clearly label them in your automation or campaign setup if you're using flows
