Pricepoint's AI-powered pricing optimizes room rates in real time based on demand, booking trends, and market conditions. Some OTA promotions work well alongside this — others can interfere with it.
Why do rule-based promotions need to be disabled?
Rule-based promotions — like last-minute or early-bird discounts — are triggered by booking window timing (e.g., "apply 10% off if booked within 48 hours of check-in"). This is the same variable Pricepoint already accounts for as part of its Booking Window & Seasonality factor.
Conflicts with AI Recommendations: These discounts can lower prices even when Pricepoint recommends an increase, leading to missed revenue opportunities.
Double discounting: if Pricepoint has already lowered a price because it's last-minute with low demand, and the OTA separately applies its own last-minute discount rule on top, the same signal gets discounted twice — resulting in a lower price than either system intended on its own
Ignores real demand: Pricepoint might choose not to discount a last-minute date if demand is strong, but a rule-based promotion applies its discount regardless.
Doesn't adapt in real time: unlike Pricepoint, rule-based promotions are static and don't adjust as market conditions change
All rule-based promotions should be disabled on OTAs before enabling Pricepoint.
Which OTA discounts can stay active?
Some promotions aren't tied to any variable Pricepoint's pricing considers, so there's no overlap to cause a conflict:
Genius-like or mobile-only discounts: Programs like Booking.com's Genius or mobile-only discounts operate independently and align with a property's visibility strategy without interfering with Pricepoint
Flat, ongoing discounts: a fixed, constant percentage used for strike-through pricing doesn't change based on demand, timing, or any other condition — so it doesn't interact with Pricepoint's dynamic pricing adjustments
