This article walks through the steps to configure your Rate Setup. For an explanation of what Starting Price, Minimum Price, and Maximum Price mean, see Definitions: Pricing Framework and Price Levels.
How do I configure Rate Setup?
Navigate to Rate Setup
Go to Settings > Rate Setup.
Choose Room Type
Rate Setup is configured only for the Parent Room — select it from the list. Child rooms don't need their own Rate Setup, since they follow the pricing strategy of their corresponding parent room, with prices derived automatically using the room's derivation rule.
Set Starting, Minimum, and Maximum Prices
By default, Minimum Price = Starting Price − 50%
By default, Maximum Price = Starting Price + 50%
Minimum and Maximum Price can each be adjusted independently, without needing to change your Starting Price, as long as the resulting gap stays within Pricepoint's allowed range.
What's the allowed range? The gap between Starting Price and Minimum, or Starting Price and Maximum, can be anywhere from 0% up to 50%. Going beyond 50% in either direction can't be saved.
We recommend keeping at least a 20% gap for the most optimal setup, this is a minimum, not a target, 30%, 40%, or more is fine, and often better for giving Pricepoint room to optimize. Going below 20% is allowed but not recommended, since it limits how much Pricepoint can adjust.
Example (Starting Price: $100):
Minimum Price can be set anywhere from $50 (50% below, the lowest allowed) to $100 (equal to Starting Price, allowed but not recommended). We recommend $80 or lower (at least 20% below) for optimal flexibility.
Maximum Price can be set anywhere from $100 (equal to Starting Price, allowed but not recommended) to $150 (50% above, the highest allowed). We recommend $120 or higher (at least 20% above) for optimal flexibility.
Customize Weekends
Configure weekend pricing independently, or derive it from weekday prices using a percentage or fixed modifier.
Copy Prices (Optional)
Duplicate pricing from another room type or from last year's ADR. Add modifiers (e.g., +20%) to adjust copied prices for weekdays or weekends.
Why shouldn't I adjust Rate Setup too often?
Rate Setup is designed to give Pricepoint enough room to find the optimal price — allowing increases when possible and decreases only when necessary, within your defined framework.
Avoid micromanaging it. Rate Setup shouldn't be changed frequently. Review it every 3 months to account for things like inflation or shifting demand.
Frequent adjustments are a signal, not a fix. If you find yourself changing Rate Setup often, it usually means the framework is too restrictive.
For a short-term need — a specific date or brief period where you want to nudge pricing in a certain direction — use Demand Level instead of changing Rate Setup, since it's designed for exactly this kind of temporary adjustment.
If the need is ongoing or recurring, that's a sign the framework itself should be widened rather than repeatedly adjusted. Contact Customer Support for guidance.
What KPIs can I see alongside Rate Setup?
The Rate Setup screen shows historical KPIs — ADR, Occupancy, and Revenue — from previous years, displayed alongside your current price range. This lets you compare past performance against your framework to help refine it for future periods.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set up next year's prices?
You don't need to start from scratch. The prices you set for each month in Rate Setup automatically repeat for the same month next year, until you change them.
For example, the Starting, Minimum and Maximum Prices you set for August this year will also apply to August next year.
To change next year's prices, update those months in Settings > Rate Setup.
Rate Setup has one set of prices per month, so the change applies the next time that month comes around. If the month is still ahead this year (for example December), this year's prices change too.
Can I set separate prices for a child room?
Child rooms don't have their own prices in Rate Setup. Only parent rooms show up there, and each child room takes its Starting, Minimum and Maximum Prices from its parent.
Want a child room priced differently? Add a price difference (modifier) in Settings > Room Setup. The child room then gets its own Starting, Minimum and Maximum Prices, while still following its parent room's pricing strategy.
For example: your parent room's Minimum Price is 80€ and the child room is set to +20€, so the child room's Minimum Price is 100€.
Raise the parent's Minimum Price to 90€, and the child's moves to 110€.
Or keep the parent at 80€ and set the difference to +30€, and the child's also moves to 110€.
