Overview
Products in ProgressionLIVE define what can be added to a task's invoices, such as parts, labour, or miscellaneous fees. This article walks you through the product record, permissions, associated products, and creating new products.
Columns and display
The following columns are displayed by default in the product list:
Categories
Name
Description
Code
Default price
Unit cost
Markup

Item type
Column display can be customized. Double-click a product to open its record, or click Add to add a new product.
General tab
Main fields
Name — Name of the product. Two products cannot have the same name.
Disabled — Hides the product from your lists and prevents its use.
Description — Internal description of the product.
Code — Unique product code. Two products cannot have the same code.
Default price — Selling price.
Unit cost — Cost price.
Markup (%) — Automatic calculation of the margin between cost and price (read-only).
Taxable — Indicates whether the product should be taxed.
Item type — Defines which type of item will be created by default when added to an invoice.
Product type — Determines which additional information sections are displayed.
Product category — Classifies the product within available categories.
Useful notes
On mobile, a product can be added by scanning a barcode, if the scanned code matches the product's Code.
When a product is added to a task, it acts as a template, but the item within the task is independent. Editing the item does not affect the original product (e.g., changing its price, description, etc.).
Images
Add/edit image — Adds an image to the product.
Delete image — Removes the image from the product.
Permissions tab
This tab controls the visibility of a product based on the user's role.
If visibility is unchecked for a role, users with that role will not see this product in lists or tasks.
Associated products tab
Associated products allow additional items to be automatically added when a product is selected in a task.
Example
If you add the product Water Bottle, the associated product Deposit can be added automatically. If you add the product Water Heater Installation, the required parts could be added automatically.
How it works
Add an associated product → it will be automatically inserted when the main product is added.
If you remove the main product, all associated products will also be removed.
If you remove an associated product, only that product disappears.
History tab
The History tab displays all changes made to the product record.
Click the + symbol or double-click a row to see the details.
This history includes:
field modifications
permission changes
associated product updates
product activation/deactivation
Important note:
⚠️ Entity history must be enabled in your account for this section to display changes. If you see no history, contact us to verify the configuration.
Creating a product
Click Management.
Select Products.
Click Add.
Fill in the product information in the General tab.
Click Save.
Products can also be created via Excel import. Refer to our documentation for more details.
Warning – External synchronization
Your ProgressionLIVE may be configured to sync products with an external system, such as:
QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Sage 50
Acomba
Another accounting or ERP software
In that case, it is strongly recommended to create products in the external system first, then sync so that products are automatically imported into ProgressionLIVE.
This avoids:
duplicates
data conflicts
accounting discrepancies
FAQ
Can I edit a product that comes from an external sync?
It depends on the integration. In most cases, the product must be edited in the external system and then synced. If you edit a synced product in Progression only, your changes could be overwritten by the next sync.
Are associated products visible on mobile?
Yes, they appear automatically when the main product is added to an invoice. An associated product can also be used independently of a main product.
Does deactivating a product delete it?
No. Deactivation hides the product, but all its data and history are retained. You can view deactivated products by checking the Show disabled items option.
Why do I see nothing in the History tab?
The "entity history" option must be enabled. Contact us if no changes appear.
