Installing the terminal and checking components
The AMS1 terminal package includes:
AMS1 payment terminal
USB-C cable and power adapter (depending on region)
Built-in eSIM card for cellular connectivity
Important: Always inspect the terminal upon receipt to ensure it has not been tampered with during shipping.
Starting the terminal for the first time
Plug the terminal into a power source
Hold the power button until the screen turns on
Let the battery charge for at least 4 hours
On the Welcome screen, select your language
Connect the terminal to a Wi-Fi or cellular network
Confirm the store associated with the terminal
Note: If the store confirmation screen does not appear, wait for synchronization with Adyen (up to 3 hours).
Configuring the network connection
Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
The settings passcode on the terminal is always 0856.
After selecting the language, tap the next arrow
On the Wi-Fi Setup screen, select +
Enable WLAN
Choose a Wi-Fi network or enter the SSID
Enter the Wi-Fi password
Select OK
A Wi-Fi icon appears at the top of the screen when the connection is established.
Tip: Wi-Fi settings can be modified later under Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (passcode required).
Using the cellular connection (eSIM)
The terminal can automatically switch to the cellular connection (3G/4G) if Wi-Fi is unavailable. The eSIM card is generally already installed and activated.
Important: For older terminals, confirm activation with support.

Note: On first startup or after a long period of inactivity, the terminal may perform a maintenance call (10 to 20 minutes).

Settings
Some options are accessible without a passcode:

Other options require an Admin/Settings passcode:
Apps – Applications and certificates
Configuration – Configuration version
Network – Network and airplane mode
Power – Terminal restart
Transactions
Payment-related actions require a Transactions passcode:
History – Transaction history
Totals – Cumulative totals
New transaction – Payment, refund, MOTO, manual entry
Important: Certain operations, such as refunds, require a separate Refunds passcode.

Under Transactions > History, you can view all transactions recorded on the terminal.

View totals (sales, refunds, tips, cancellations)
Reset totals to start a new period
Pro tip: An automatic daily reset can be configured through support.

How long does the initial terminal synchronization take? The initial synchronization with Adyen can take up to 3 hours.
Does the terminal work without Wi-Fi? Yes. It can automatically use the cellular connection (eSIM) if Wi-Fi is unavailable.
