Reports: Overview

Explains what the Promolayer Reports tab shows — impressions, clicks, conversions, and A/B test results — plus current reporting limitations.

The "Reports" tab in the Promolayer admin panel shows how each display is performing, so you can track engagement and conversions over time.

Available metrics

The following metrics are available from the "Reports" tab in the admin panel:

  • Page Views (*): The number of times a page is displayed (the number of times the Promolayer tracking tag is loaded).

  • Impressions: the number of times a display was shown

  • Clicks and click rate: how many times a button or link was clicked, and the percentage

  • Conversions and conversion rate: how many form submissions, coupon claims, etc. were completed, and the percentage

  • A/B test comparison: impressions, click rate, and conversion rate per variant

*Please note that pageviews can only be measured if you are on the Plus plan and have the pageview setting enabled.

The Difference Between Pageviews and Impressions

A pageview is the number of times a page is displayed, while an impression is the number of times a display (popup/banner) is shown. If multiple displays are set up on the same page, your impressions can exceed your pageviews (Impressions > Pageviews).

Example: If both a "sticky floating banner" and an "exit-intent popup" are shown on the same page:

  • Pageviews: 1

  • Impressions: 2 (1 for each display)

Current limitations

Per-trigger breakdowns — such as "impressions from the back-button trigger" vs "impressions from the tab-return trigger" — are not currently available.

Workaround

To compare performance by trigger, create two displays with the same design and assign only one trigger to each. You can then track each trigger's results separately in their respective reports.
