Casual fans on streaming platforms may not be interested in long DJ versions of a track. And DJs don't want short versions cluttering their crate digging on Beatport.
At Proton, we make it easy for our music labels to create a short & long version of a track on the same release... saving lots of time!
You don't have to create a 2nd version of the release.
This avoids the trouble of sending contracts again or complicating expenses.
Proton strongly recommends that music labels keep the DJ versions available on their streaming release since they can significantly boost your plays (example), but you're welcome to hide the long versions if you really want to.

Pro Tips
Pitch Short Versions on Spotify - If you’re taking the time to create short versions of your tracks, we highly recommend making sure the short version is the one you pitch for playlists on Spotify, since it will have a better chance of connecting with Spotify fans & official curators. If you haven’t started pitching tracks on Spotify yet, here’s our guide for that.
Include Long Versions at the end of the tracklist - Proton strongly recommends including long versions of tracks in your streaming releases because it can significantly increase your plays (example). But when taking this approach, place all the extended mixes together at the end of your tracklist. In this way, the longer versions act as bonus tracks for your release: whens fans click play on the whole album they’ll hear the long versions too, which can double your plays.
