An accurate understanding of your business always starts with the customer: but with so many customer interactions and touchpoints, and data scattered across platforms, the invaluable “voice of the customer” can sometimes remain elusive, and hard to embed in your analysis.

Today, we’re delighted to announce the free beta release of Pulsar First, Pulsar’s First Party Data upload functionality. Whether you’re a researcher, marketer, CX or commercial professional, Pulsar First is designed to help you make sense of those touchpoints and put them in context, in order to glean insights across your entire business.

Upload text into Pulsar (via .CSV or API - your choice!), process it through our vertical AI, and go on to explore, analyze, segment, and visualize it – just like any other data source you track on Pulsar.

What can I use Pulsar First for?

What can’t you use it for? By allowing you to import first-party data into the tool, Pulsar First can help you glean better insights across use cases and your company’s business functions, depending on the data you have and your business challenge you are facing.

Here are just a few ideas on how you can use Pulsar First.

  • Make your products, activations & experiences more customer-centric: for instance, you can track and measure the success of a new launch by bringing together social data with customer support ticket data, using Pulsar’s text analysis engine, including language detection, topic, keyword, sentiment and emotion models to extract insights.

  • Use Pulsar’s AI and segmentation to spot patterns in your data: for example, you can group customer interactions from your dataset across your customer journey with tags and segmentation functions, or use the vertical text AI to surface posts by Sentiment, Emotion, Intensity, Trust/Distrust, or CSR and Customer Experience use cases.

  • Spot the relationship between breaking news, viral moments, and your customers interactions: for instance, by mapping a spike in sentiment in your customer data with a broader industry story unfolding across social and news media.

Of course, there’s many more ways in which you can use Pulsar First, depending on the data you’d like to import – which brings us to the following section: the types of data Pulsar can ingest.

What Kind of Data?

So, what data can you upload?

As long as you are complying with data legislation and our acceptable use policy, the requirements are pretty basic: datasets need to have a body of text, a date, and a unique identifier for each item.

Here’s a few ideas of types of data you can upload to get you started:

  • Chat transcripts from Intercom or similar in-app messenger applications.

  • Customer support tickets from Sales Force or Zendesk

  • Comments left on any of your websites

  • Survey responses from tools like Google Forms, Typeform or SurveyMonkey

  • Transcripts from podcasts, lectures, or other media

BUT again, before you import any data into Pulsar, you will need to read our Acceptable Use Policy and agree to our data terms, which can be found here.

So, how do I upload data?

1. Upload your First party data in the same search, alongside your social, news and online data. Data can be uploaded via a one-off CSV upload, or integrated via our Pusher API endpoint where you can ingest data programmatically at your desired frequency.

2. Ingest the data into the search and treat it the same way as any other data in your search. It is stored in the same index allowing you to leverage all the enrichments and analysis available on Pulsar.

3. Our visualizations and filtering options are instantly available for your first party data along with any other data in the search.
You can import data via .CSV and via API.

What kind of Analysis can I perform on first-party data?

Once in the platform, Pulsar will treat first-party data as “just another data source” - which means you get all the AI analysis, visualization, tagging/segmenting and correlation capabilities you are used to for other data sources.

  • Leverage Pulsar’s Vertical AI to instantly extract value without any setup or data training. Our Text AI models include:

  • Tag and Segment your first party data using over 65 advanced filters for example

  • Compare and overlay your first party data with our social and online data to get the full picture of your audience and their behaviors.

  • Correlate your business trends with breaking stories.

  • Visualize your data and automate your reporting with our Custom Dashboards.

And so much more! We’d love to know how you are using this functionality and to hear any feedback you might want to share with us.

Pulsar First is available as a free beta to every Pulsar user: you can get started right now! And if you have any questions about how Pulsar First can help you understand your customers or achieve your business goals, don’t hesitate to reach out to your account manager.
