TRAC - What's New

Updated over 2 years ago

We are excited to announce that we’re doubling down on our global online news coverage on Pulsar to bring you News+. Our enhanced online news data source will be the first big milestone towards a complete media monitoring offering on Pulsar, and paves the way for other traditional media monitoring sources, such as Print and Broadcast, which we will be bringing into the platform over the next 4 months. So watch this space!

What does this mean?

From January 20th, 2022, clients will have access to 3+ million online news articles a day, as well as immediate access to a robust 1-year historical archive, which we will keep adding to over time. Our coverage will be extensive, giving you access to quality news articles ranging from top international, national, and regional sources.

As part of this release, we have also introduced some new functionalities into Pulsar. Continue reading to find out more 👇.

Enhanced Panel Search Options

Search by Outlet in a News Panel Search

You can now also create a News Panel search and track specific online news outlets, for example, you can search for all articles that come from The BBC, or NY Times. The ability to monitor the content of specific outlets gives you insight into how different outlets cover a certain topic, what angle they take and how much impact and reach their coverage has. You can also understand what topics certain outlets cover in general, and even be able to map how their coverage changes over time.

New Media Monitoring Metrics

AVE (Advertising Value Equivalency)

We've also introduced the AVE (Advertising Value Equivalency) metric into our online News source. This means you'll now see an estimated Dollar ($) value indication against online news articles, helping you to understand the estimated return on investment attributed to an article. We've baked in AVE into our existing charts on TRAC, giving you the ability to understand the increase or decrease over time. The AVE metric is specific to Online news articles; we'll have different AVE calculations for Print and Broadcast news, which we'll talk more about in future releases.

Please note that AVE will only be available for Online News Articles that have been collected from January 20th onwards, and not News articles collected before this date. If you order historics, AVE will be available for all historical data.

If you have News data in your search on TRAC, you'll find AVE in the following sections:

  • Overview section

  • Content section

  • Sites section

  • Results view

Better Alerts & Media Monitoring Template

News Media Monitoring Template

Along with this release we've created a new Media Monitoring dashboard template, which you will find in the Dashboards section on TRAC. As the name suggests, this is a report template that looks at news coverage within a search, and brings together all the KPIs and insights that are important for tracking online news coverage.

Daily Email Digest

Daily Email Digest: Whilst Pulsar’s KPI email alerts notify users when something is happening in a TRAC search, our new Email Digest provides users with a daily or weekly digest of what has happened in a specific search, either the previous day or the previous week, depending on the frequency specified. A regular email digest is particularly useful for people interested in media monitoring, as it gives them a comprehensive summary of the coverage they have received over a specific period. You will be able to set up email digests (as well as KPI alerts) for any running search on TRAC.

That's all for now! News+ data is currently available to all existing TRAC clients at no additional cost, however, over the next few weeks, your Account Manager will be reaching out to understand your media monitoring needs.

We hope you will find exceptional value in our extended global online news coverage, and we can’t wait to share with you what we have up our sleeves as we expand further into the news media monitoring space, so watch this space.
