What is Volume?

Volume in TRAC refers to the quantity of posts, results, or pieces of content that your search has gathered. It is widely considered to be the most vital metric on the platform, as it enables you to instantly grasp the extent of the online conversation you are tracking.

We apply volume in various ways on TRAC, which we will discuss in more detail:

Mentions

Mentions reflect the total number of posts made concerning the search you have created.

  • For Topic Searches the metric shows the total number of posts made in relation to the keywords you are querying in your search.

  • For Panel Searches the metric shows the total number of posts made by the authors you are monitoring.

You can discover total mentions within Feed > Results.

πŸ’‘ Top Tip: As soon as you have created your search and retrieved data, utilise the volume metric to gain an initial understanding of the popularity of the conversation you are analysing.

You can also find the total number of posts, a sum of the total volume and total engagements in "Key Performance Metrics" within the Snapshot Overview.

πŸ’‘ Top Tip: "Total Volume" will be emphasised in green, red, or grey, indicating whether it is trending upwards, downwards, or remaining consistent, in comparison to the previous timeframe.

Lastly, you can locate mentions over time within the "Content Over Time" chart. This is located within the Snapshot Overview and Timeline in Content Insights.

Sentiment

Sentiment volume reveals the total instances of content labelled with Positive, Negative, or Neutral sentiment over a period. You can find this in the Sentiment Over Time visual, which is located within the Timeline in Content Insights.

Emotions

Emotions volume displays the total instances of content labelled with anger, disgust, fear, sadness, and joy as emotions over a period. You can find this in the "Emotions Over Time" visual, which is located within the Timeline in Content Insights.

Data Sources
